Conch Help

I recently picked up a used reef tank that has lots of life. Anyway I have this conch who was very active in the month I've had him, but now hasn't moved for 3 days. Is this normal? Is there anything I should be doing? All params are in check.

I'm not sure what type of conch you have, but I believe that some of them do typically hide in the sand bed for a time period then emerge and roam around again.

Um, I hope its not a queen conch, those monsters that I see in Florida, that look like they cold eat my foot! :eek1: :eek2: LOL, its much more likely to be a fighting conch or something like that.

LOL. Well it has the pointed parts on the rear of its shell, pointed foot, eye stalks, and what I would describe as a green elephant like trunk with yellow spots. Total length of shell is like 3 inches. I have a pic of it out of the shell at home I'll upload it later.

Yeah, it's a Queen Conch. They need a lot to eat, and it looks like there's not that much macroalgae in your tank. Have you been feeding it?

Ok so I just had to see what's up, so I picked it up today. When I touched its foot it curled up in the shell, so I put it back like it was. Any suggestions?

If you have access to Caulerpa or nori, why don't you weight some and put it on the sand beside the snail?

Ok so last night right before I dosed off the conch started to move and search for food. I will try and find some nori when I go out later.

I have a fighting conch that burrows in the sand every day, but also seems to burrow for several days without emerging once every few weeks/month. For what reason I don't know.

Formula 2 frozen or spirulina is common and good: avoid caulerpa.

The conch did't seem to notice the nori I placed on the bottom. So after a few failed attempts I simply placed the conch on the nori to weight it down. After 20 mins the 1 inch piece was gone. But since then still burrows a lot. Thanks for the replys everyone. Sk8r what do you skate, me personally, I like to wakeskate.
