hmmm, Well that does mean he doesnt think he is dinner. Although I catch mine hanging out around mine sometimes I think as he knows food is coming that way which makes me nervous to see him get near mine which could snatch him in a second. Great to hear he ate, thats a great sign and keep feeding him than. Like I said, mines a total pig lol

Well, he ate again last night

I did lift him high in the water for a few seconds, not out, but high, to see if there was a yucky smell. Nothing wierd going on there. He was super sticky, so I carefully set him back down up against the rock. He footed!!!! Weak, but footed I wonder if there is a real term for that.

Anyway, he is looking a bit... better. But I hesitate to use that word. Fingers crossed!

hehe, Like I said keep him fed as hit helps him a ton to a good recovery. Do it daily if not twice a day even. I been feeding mine with the fish since I got mine and its never let go of any of it. Glad to hear he is locked himself onto a rock. If hes sticky, than he def. is not a goner. So no worries there, hes a fighter!

Well, it irks me when people ask lots of questions and never update as to the outcome. I'm sad to say that last Tuesday, I had to euthanize this anemone (freeze.) Monday the anemone was expelling more and more bolus and remaining somewhat small and shriveled, and then Tuesday, it appeared to be disintegrating.

As awful as this was, my only consolation is that I learned some lessons. I found my temperature management strategy didn't have enough built in fail safes. I learned alot about anemones, both in the prepurchase, and in the process of this anemone doing well, then also while it was not doing well. I wish the outcome were better for the anemone, but it has certainly pushed me to be a better reefer. I have since added another layer to my temperature management, as well as look at the other fail safes I have in place. And, I will try again

Sorry to hear this news. It's really frustrating to see such a beautiful creature die after a mishap. I had one do almost the same thing! It was thriving and doing well for 2 months (eating, getting darker) and then a mistake = dead gigantea :sad2:

I really want to keep this species for along time!

Your tank is really nice btw.

Sorry to hear that...... It seemed like the anemone wasn't up to par which is sad. Hopefully it doesn't stray you in the future of trying one again. Never give up and I think your tank speaks for itself about your skills in reefing. You will have better luck in the future Im sure
