conserving costs/energy

Here is a quick photo Vince took when he was here yesterday of my new energy efficient SPS system!

Terrific photo Vince. Conmgradulations on a beautifully redesigned display Nate. You have created the model for downsizing reef aquariums. I stand by what I said when I saw your tank Saturday; it is the most beautiful small (e.g. less than 75 gallon tank) I have ever seen. I will be closely following the progress of your sps colonies now that you are running one 175 watt halide with vho supplementation.

In that spirit, I purchased two of Nates 175 w Ice Cap ballasts anjd will soon be replacing at least one of my 250w Icecap ballasts. In conversations with Nate, we have concluded that many of us have been overpowering our corals with light. I have now experimented with 175, 250 and 400 watt halide lighting schemes and I actually believe I get the best coloration with 175 watt vho supplemented light. On my 125g tank, I will run one side with 250 and one side with 175 and see how it compares. I will have a couple corals of the same species on each side to serve as a control.

Once again Nate, beautiful job!!
