Beautiful but way high on price

Ever price something and it sells really fast and you are like dude I proceed that way to low?

That Labout's sold in about 60 seconds. Seems the market supports the price.

Depends who you ask. In my area supermales are $170-$200 (price shown in pic) Others aren't as lucky or care more about the guarantee. Either way, it's fine.

The tail on that fish is in really bad shape.

Also IMHO the one pictured is now where near the same quality as the one sold on DD today. IMHO

Yes that's because LFS doesn't have good lighting over their tank. They don't rely on pro camera/pics the way an online retailer for wysiwyg does. That pic was taken by me in a dark store with an iPhone. Tail isn't perfect but to say it's in "really" bad shape is just a little bit exaggerated, don't you think? Lol. Also, didn't you see a clown tang in that pic that should explain it LOL :)))
The point wasn't to beat up on DD pricing. For the sake of hobbyists that don't have access to good stores or rare fish, DD plays an important role in the hobby.
My post was to show the reason why some people may find DD pricing on the higher side.

I'm flat out of QT space - especially since my first purple gig decided to get sick and needs to be treated again. And then my 3 yellow belly regal angels came down with ich and at least one will likely need treatment... :headwalls:

Yes, 5.

The 2 blue grey Philippine regals where paper-thin rescues - now they are fatter than I ever have seen a small regal. Both were 3 inch when I got them, but hopefully one has slightly outgrown the other so I can put them back together.

Then there are the 2 yellow belly Sumatra regals - they have definitely paired up by now and are far less reclusive than the blue gray ones. When they see me they come out and wait for food on the front. I didn't measure them but the small is likely 3 inch while the larger one must be about 4 inch. Both eat like pigs

The last one was a very nice 3.5 inch yellow belly that was meant to be paired with the Red Sea Regal (R.I.P.). He is the one that go a bit stressed out and likely started the outbreak. The extra heavy feeding I did the last few weeks likely did their part as well. Saturday he goes into a 20 long HT.

Is that the same fish as the venustus angel that is listed on NYAquatic right now. The only reason I ask is they list it as centropyge venustus.

It used to be C. venustus, but a couple years back somebody determined the 'gender' of Centropyge to be feminine, so any names that were in the masculine form were changed. Venustus became venusta. It is still more common to see it listed as venustus, though.

Priced right for one silly individual that now made that fish high priced for everyone off DD... Same happened with the Polyzona tangs last year, started at $800 now you can't get one for less than $1300 from DD

Don't worry. If it's only one individual willing to pay $1300 for a fish price will come done soon. Free market at work. But for rare fish I am afraid there are more than one individual waiting. See discussion on the Venustus above.

Unfortunately that rule doesn't apply to rare or hard to get. Once the price goes up it rarely ever comes down again. That's where having multiple sources for fish comes in handy. One says $1300 for said fish, another says $600... You can keep the guarantee and I will take two at $600
