Copper Banded Butterfly Coral Nipping

I added a CCB to my display tank about a month ago. He's eating some, won't feed out of the water coloum but will pick up left overs off the rock. Feeding Reef frenzy.

The CCB has started Nipping on my acans. The clear tenticals coming out of the acans to be exact. Will it out grow this behavior or should I remove the fish?

Sounds normal to me unfortunately. If you didn't pay that much for the Acan though you might want to hold off on removing the fish for a little longer. Maybe try feeding a raw clam every now and then (along with other foods) & hopefully this behavior will pass in time.

CBBs are hard to feed. You may want to consider how much you want acans versus, say, hammer or something he might not want to eat. Beautiful fish, but behaviors and food sources just don't change. It IS true that it could be a deficiency in his diet and you can try the clam, but again, he just may see the acan as food.

Butterflies are way nicer than acans and getting a healthy CBB is worth it IMO

my CBB loves agans, and any other LPS that's not a torch.

chalices, acans, blastos, etc. he's eaten them all.

The issue is the fish doesn't get enough food from you (tough to feed) so it eats your corals.

oh no, mine is quite well fed. that's never stopped him from munching.
