Copperband Butterfly

I hope Angela sees this post... After seeing her copperband I knew I had to have one. I picked one up from Fins Wed. So far he has put a nice dent into my hitchhiking featherdusters. I have seen him eating live brine. Is there any other foods anyone suggests to keep him eating? He is the only fish in my 65 gallon besides a passive royal gramma.

Didn't you get some mush? It had plenty of meaty things for him. Lets just hope he takes to it. Try straight myasis if he is uninterested in the mush and there is tricks to train them to eat but hopefully you won't have to do that. Mine likes table shrimp also.I would say he will pretty much ignore the prepared foods untill his natural sources are depleated so he may take right to the mush. They are such neat looking fish!
BTW I am gonna call my sitter and check to see if she wants new kids before I give you her #. Sorry I haven't gotten back with ya yet.

Yeah I of course got some mush the gramma loves it as do my freshwater fish. I have been meaning to make it by ashley's house to drop some off to him, but I have been so busy as of late. You make it scary on the "other" meathods to train him to eat. i will try to post a pic..

No problem on the sitter. I wouldnt use her much at all. My inlaws are usually able to help out. I just wanted to know someone just in case...

I've got a rock covered in majanos I'd gladly rent out for butterfly food. I've likely got a few...

I guess training them to eat it as difficult as the fish makes it. You can get fresh clams and break open for them to eat on then move to just putting food directly on the empy clam shell to entice him to start taking it, hopefully leading to eating the same food straight from the water colum like mine does. Or you can just rent peoples aptasia covered rocks like gary said :)

well i have aptasia on some of my rock. I never killed it in anticipation of getting a copperband. I came home today and he has not touched it. All my featherdusters are gone now though.

Gary maybe he would like majanos more? ;)
I would hate to bring in majanos and he not like them. Then I am stuck with aptasia and majanos... Anyone want to buy some live rock? LOL.

Oh if all else fails I bring the copperband to you Angela and let yours teach it to eat from the water column. He did eat at Fins before I took him home. I wonder if I should have quarantined him. The reason I put him straight in is because I figured he would do better with eating in a reef environment.
