Copps Angelfish & Acro Dominated Reef in HD

The multibarreds will probably move to a smaller coolwater tank I have, unless I can get a few hotumatua, which at this point looks like I'll have to travel to Easter and get them myself... :)
Do not forget about me when you collect the hotumatua ...

Amazing tanks John!

You're an inspiration to all of us who think "if only I had another tank.. I could get that pair of X and my Y wouldn't bother them.."!

Really nice tank !!
The impressive things in that 180G, besides the angels of course, is that you have quite alot of fish, it seems you feed heavy and still the SPS looks so good.
Can you give system info and water parameters?
Cheers

john, how do you introduce your angels without your corals gettting eaten?
I'd wager given his abilities that the angels eating the corals would be a benefit

I have a few pieces from him & have yet to replicate the growth or color :o I'm not worthy

Hey guys, within a few months I'll be showing plenty of pics of this system... ;) just be patient... :)

Can you please post some info on your talk in Sac? I'd love to attend!

Here you go!

John , in your avatar i see you also have or had a Moorish idol, did it fare well do you still have it? , what is the secret with this fish ? i have tried about 4 all of them ate but all declined after about a year in captivity When they suddenly would stop eating and die very soon thereafter

Any tips with regard to them most of my Idols came from Kenya

I've owned many idols and although I've kept some long term, keeping in a pair or group (long term) is near impossible. I believe it's important to get this fish small and fresh from the ocean... the species range is huge and I don't believe one location to be better than another, but rather the important thing is to get the fish small (they adapt better, ship better, and feed better) and as fresh from the ocean with a short supply chain (mine were collected by friends in Hawaii, but for you Kenya is quite close). Once adapted these fish need to be fed and kept fat... there is a line with all fish between a fish getting skinny and a fish dieing... with this species that line is very fine and so care needs to be taken to keep this fish fat and on a good diet... many people fail to realize this early and by the time they realize it their idol is dead... I yanked mine from my reef display as they picking was more than I liked on my sps... here are some dated shots of my kitchen 292 gallon... an upgrade from the kitchen nano... :fun4:

Hi John - nice system! What is your overall opinion on the scribbled angel? I hope to own one soon.

I love all angels... I have a Western Australian male scribbled in the kitchen tank now...

john, how do you introduce your angels without your corals gettting eaten?

I do an entire one hour talk dedicated to this... but if I could give one sentence of advice on the topic is "keep your corals healthy!"

Do not forget about me when you collect the hotumatua ...

No sweat Yuri... we'll trade one for one with some kingi... ;)

Really nice tank !!

Can I request you record and do a youtube video, or podcast with your talk? I'd love to hear it, but unfortunately can't make it out to Orlando.

Or some past talks! :) Specifically, I'd be interested in the socialization of multiple angels and keeping them with SPS coral! While there's a lot of advice out here on RC to be had, I'm most interested in yours.
