Coral collecting in Malaysia

Friend of mine is a oil executive in Malaysia. He just moved there and will live there for 3 years. He is a diver, and i'm taking care of his reef while he is gone. He wanted to know if he went diving could he collect frags or colonies and ship them back to the US via fed ex overnight. His office is real close to DHL, UPS, and Fed EX, so shipping overnight would cost him 100$ or so..

Just wondering if he needed a licence or if he would get in trouble or what..

He'll need CITES permits from both the country of export and the US for import, along with any other export permits, fees, collecting permits that are needed in Malaysia. There are also Fish and Wildlife inspection fees on this side as well. His best bet would be to make friends with a local tropical fish exporter that might be willing to ship for him.

it's actually a nano... but i just told him i was dismantling it and incorporating it into my reef... when he gets back i will give him new rock and whatever is on the rock..

Ever trade frags with aggies?

Any good frag stores in d/fw?

dfw frag stores? hmm, neptunes cove (plano), true percula (fw/arlington?) are probably the "best" but nothing like what you'll find online.

nope, haven't traded with any aggies... tank is still cycling, my last tank was in CA and there's sooo few aggies out there! if you're ever up here, shoot me a pm =) (btw, frag swap july 13 for DFWMAS - not sure if you have to be a member - i think so though)

i actually will be up there on the 13th, but dont know if I can get away.... My sister lives up in north/east dallas area... so I dont know where it is or how far it would be..
