coral dip

What product would be better for dipping zoanthids and LPS corals Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Cure or Kent Lugols Solution. Also is it safe to put either in a bucket of water for the recommended time then rinse coral off in a bucket of tank water then move to the tank?

i think Lugols is better for Zoas and Lps... Two Little Fishes Revive is good too... that's what I use, but mostly just SPS

I use lugos whenever I get a new frag....i got flatworms once b4 I started dipping....just to be safe...

Ive only tried lugols, which is close to tmpcc. I usually just throw the coral into the tank without rinsing. just a quick shake off. I want to try that Revive stuff but I heard it clouds up the water so you cant see what comes off.

I got my mine Online, but i'm sure Either one of them could get it for you. I've used the Tropic Marin as well, the revive works on Monti Nudi's and Red Bugs. Great Stuff!
I know people that use both.

So, is one only good for some stuff. It sounds like I should have a chemical variety to dip this into that, and that into this. Are any of them good for all lps, sps, softie, zoa. That way I would only have to get 1 product. Like aerius007 said what about fresh water dips, does that do the same as the chemicals? Thanks!

Well I think for an overal dip that Lugols would be best. Revive and TMPCC are aimed more at SPS. In adition to Revive I also do an Interceptor bath. I don't usually dip zoas, palys or most LPS. I probably should though. I think that a freshwater dip just stresses the coral out to much. There is alot of debate on this in the SPS forum. I have never done it but have heard some bad things about doing it.

The arguement I heard towards the freshwater dip is that during low tide it will of course rain from time to time and this doesnt kill corals. I'm not saying one way is better or not, just that is what I heard.

Yeah that's what my brother's boss heard about low tides too. The guy gave me his live rocks in a bath of fresh water. Guess what that did to the rocks?

hmm that's interesting. I have never heard that. I wonder if it actually rains enough to have any impact on SG though?
