Coral grow out

This sounds cool. We just need a head count and a determined amount per frag that members are willing to pay. Here's pretty much everything needed to get the ball rolling.

1. # of members wanting to participate
2. Amount members are comfortable paying
3. What kind of coral?
4. Vendor that carries that much volume of the same coral?
5. Timeline for the grow out.
6. How will the club determine growth?
7. Prize?

Well I'm in lol maybe we can start by getting a head count and then depending on how many are interested we can decide what coral, cost and all the other details.

Coral grow out

Something with heads are always the easiest IMO. Zoas, acans, etc. chalices can be measured with eyes. Things like acropora or montis can be difficult to measure growth as encrusting vs vertical growth is almost impossible to account for.....

So I vote for zoas or acans personally. I would pay up to at least 20 bucks for a nice piece that wasn't already all over the club, and isnt found in every tank in California.

This sounds interesting. We should document this on the club Facebook page. I vote either zoas or acans too. Guess I'll have to research acans if I want to participate since I've haven't had any before.

I don't mind them. The only corals I truly care about in my tank are the sps and they leave them alone. They DO handle the incidental aiptasia and give all new frags a thorough inspection. I feel safer with them in there.

So getting back on track seems everyone else likes the acan idea. Anyone have a piece that's not common that we should do? So we can see who's got what in stock?

We should get a clear count I think first, then search for a piece or pieces that are of similar size/heads that the group would be happy with (as well as a fair price). It'll be harder to search for something without knowing how much we need.

I would start a new thread directed to individuals who would like to participate. Then figure out a price individuals would want to pay. I'd suggest aquasd for your grow out and tell Will what your working with as far as cash and how many members.
