1) Can you show us some shots of your plumbing. Do you have one drain and one return per tank?

2) For flow, you use 2 Tunze 6100 & Wavebox per tank?

3) Have you ever gone to Germany and brought back 20 corals?

4) I think if you proposed an idea to the creator of your "T-5 Tiger" to alter his design; making the ballast above the two bulbs, you both would win.

5) Eary on the thread you said you werent in the hobby to sell and make a profit, but to get in the Guiness Book, I understand you were half-kidding, but what is the record....

Hi Jiddy, Thanks,
1) I’ve been reforming the plumbing to improve water circulation, reduce noise and avoid floods. Soon I´ll post shots about this subject.
2) Yes, but in Day-care tank I only have a Sfiligoi wavemaker.
3) Yes, I travelled to German twice to buy about 20 coral frags.
4) Ballasts are hidden inside square aluminum structure. Is your suggestion to add one more tube to the fitting?
5) Thousands of course…

Many people have told me to check out this thread, I finally have and I am astonished.

I am in the process of building quite a small scale frag system, just two 30g breeders, but this thread has inspired me alot as well as taught me to be patient. I have considered everything you have done to build this system and I will try to incorporate it into my system.

I greatly appreciate you sharing this information with all of us.

This is definitely the greatest prop system I have ever seen, congrats to you and again, thank you for sharing.

I have quietly followed this thread, and just want to say how amazing your set up is. Many people seem to want to set up a large system and end up showing algea covered tanks and racks. This goes to show that patience, along with good husbandry and paying attention to the details pays off. Excellent setup and thank you for sharing with us, it is a joy to read and to see all the great photos.

I just wanted to know if when you refer to a "Algae Filter" are you talking about a refugium? I see that you do go with mangroves as well in a different compartment, but what are you using in the refugium, chaeto? ABC trace elements? Can we get a little more information as to what exactly you are using and how you are dosing it into the system? Oh and most importantly, what type of beer do you keep in that storage?

:)
Thanks,
-Mike C.

Do you only dip using Seachem Reef Dip, or do you use other products aswell? How long do you dip the corals, how much of the reefdip do you us, how exactly do you go about dipping the corals? Sorry for all the questions, but I am just trying to understand how you can produce so many beautiful corals :P

Thanks,
-Mike C.

Machado great system and beautiful colors!!!! Can you let us know what your water perameters are? I am curious to see what your levels are.

Machado,

I've been off for a while so I missed the announcement, but Major Congrats on TOTM, I'm glad to see the editors starting to give us proppers some visibility.

I've just come across this thread, great work!!! Congratulations on getting thread of the month as well :) I have a few questions as well...

I read a few pages back that your Ca and Mg are usually low (300 mg/l and 1200 mg/l ), while your Alkalinity is usually high (> 13 dkH). Is there an advantage that you have seen or achieved by running lower Ca & Mg levels, and higher Alk levels?

Also from a few pages back, I like your idea of purposely using different brands of salt. Do you mix the different brands of salt together before you prepare your ASW, or do you prepare your ASW using only one brand of salt at a time?

Thanks in advance; we all look forward to your comments!!!

Hi Mike C.!
When I talk about Algae filter I’m referring to a compartment where I maintain fast growing algae that are harvested frequently for nutrient uptake (and to get more advantages as I mentioned in the last page) and I’m talking about a shelter for large populations of micro crustaceans and other desired organisms as well as a plankton generator to feed fish and corals.
I’m using chaeto in the refugium. In the mangrove compartment I was using also Caulerpa and chaeto but chaeto have grown over Caulerpa winning whole space.
I dose into the system half recommended dose of ABC trace elements (20 ml daily).
The beers I keep in the storage aren’t alcohol free.
Thanks for your words.

Cheers,
