Coral Maternity in Portugal

wow nice video ! Im gonna try fraging like that tonight ! seems very interesting, specially the RO +Iodine part ! I assume it gets released over time from the cap as well, healing the polyp ... seems interesting.

thanks for sharing :)

Can you tell me whats the best t5 bulbs you used and how long do you run them before been replaced with new ones. I see you replaced few tanks with new t5 pendants, what brand are they? Have you taken par readings on your tanks and how would your pendants compare to ATI Powermodules? Have you done test on led, reason I ask is that you mentioned that t5 more powerfull than led. Nineball (Coral reef in Canada) changing to full led on his 1650 gallon and is confident that it will work.

Very interesting video. I am also currious about why the iodine is put in RO and not salt water, it seems any part of the fragment/polyp that comes in contact would be damaged.

Wow amazing , did you use zeospur2 in you frag tank ?

From korallenzucht I Just use Zeolites, Aminoacids and Coral Vitalizer. I do not use such product.
I could use any product in the frag tank but I would have to isolate it from the sump. All my tanks, including the frag tank, are connected to a common sump.

What do you do with all of your SPS?
Also, how to do ensure you don't get Acro eating flat worms?

As I said before, I do frags from them or are gifts for few close friends who visit me.
To avoid contaminations with AEFW (or other pests) I put all arrivals in quarantine for at least 3 months and If I find any plague I treat before putting them in the tanks.

Why the usage of freshwater instead of saltwater with the iodine solution? I'm just curious if there is a specific reason.

I use RO water as I could use salt water without problems. Using saltwater I should use freshly new synthetic (organic matter free) to prevent to rot inside the tubes. Cause I use NSW which is not organic matter free, I am forced to use RO water instead salt water.

I would like to see your feedback. Two days after you have to remove the RO from the tube, cut the tube in half, remove the air from the half tube (inside the tank) and put it in eggcrate again.

Thank you.

Let's add some color to the thread with recent shots of fish taken by my friend João Ribeiro
