Been working through this ten pages at a time on my lunch breaks..fantastic is all that I can say. The commitment to best practice has really made me start to rethink my tank from the bottom up.

Its been said before but when your tank fills in its going to be unreal...and the arch with gorgonians is amazing.

Thanks for sharing

Thank you very much. I am hoping the the end result is as great as you suggest but my blue faced angel seems focused on making that goal very difficult. I am very pleased with the gorgonians as they are a challenge to mix with everything else and they all seem to be doing well.

Peter,

WOW! Looking amazing. My favorite update yet. Looking forward to Mr Wilson's back office (Tank) follow-up update!

the tank is already so versatile..that arch is amazing...gorgonians have decorated it wonderfully...
though i would suggest to reconsider that tunicate in the early picture...once they die(if),
they are very toxic as far as i know...
why that lion fish ,peter...?what's your plan with it,as it can feed on small fishes very effectively....?

Mitch, I have your T Shirt set aside. I just have to remember to ask the bros Grimm to send it!!! Thanks for the support.

Peter, I wanted to thank you again for all that you are doing here. Its certainly one thing to say that a certain person or small group are your inspiration but a whole other to take that to the level you have with the four masters. I saw the package you sent Ching: very cool

I hope that Mr. Wilson's book has a big chapter on the value and importance of sharing what you have learned (warts and all as you have so often stated) and that the chapter is dedicated to you.

I never, for a single second, think I have learned it all when it comes to reef keeping but still marvel at the neat big and little things I have picked up in the last 6000 or so odd posts

You and the whole team should consider the forecoming book as your trophy.
BTW i think we need a tee shirt for all those following along waiting for the next set of your pictures and the next nugget of knowledge from Mr. Wilson.
Maybe a Team Nine ball sort of thing. A few hundred shirt orders should not be too hard to keep track of. LOL

You are too kind. Thanks for the encouragement. You may recall that I was born in Adelaide..........and was forced to leave at the age of two months....against my will, I might add. Now I'm living in a wet, somewhat soggy, snowbank. Someone said its supposed to go down to -25C with the wind chill which I suspect is somewhat colder than where you are at the moment.

Peter

Hi Peter, do you know where in Adelaide you lived (not that it is very big)?

Just to let you know I have all the pictures you have posted in this thread of your journey backed up to my hard drive in appearance order. Going through around 600 photos interestingly shows a progression that is quite fluent. Because this is such a huge undertaking this project I think scanning through the photos doesn't do justice to how much work has gone in to it, but none the less allows me to gain a better appreciation for the attention to detail, planning and thought that's gone in to it. Not all the pictures make sense without text, but I just wanted to let you know it's very motivating and inspriring for me as a reefer to see what can be accomplished with a good measure of knowledge from a community like Reef Central.

I look forward to watching your journal grow and my picture collection grow.

PS, Thankyou for giving Sarah ideas of what our future dream home will look like, your going to send me broke! :lolspin:

Nice

Nice

Coming along nicely peter. I think a Regal Angelfish would look real nice in that big tank. Is the Blue Face giving you problems?

a Regal angel will definitely be more reef friendly than the Blueface , my Blue face would have decimated some of those corals in your aquarium, Glad he is behaving thus far!

It would seem that my luck or should I say the Blue Face luck has run out. Until very recently he was well behaved but last weekend for whatever reason he has been going on a rampage so Mr. Wilson and I have agreed that tomorrow it is the sump for him until we can figure out what to do with him. Its too bad, as he is a magnificent specimen but he is doing I guess, what any respectable Blue Face will do in his place and that's eat everything that isn't nailed down!!!!

Peter

Do you get more enjoyment from the "small fish store" or the actual tank itself?

Both really. I knew from the outset that we would have the flexibility to make the fish room every bit as engaging as the display tank and I can honestly say that I have succeeded. The real credit however should go to Mr. Wilson who has ensured that every piece of equipment works well in that environment and that the space is inviting for those who are unfamiliar with the back trails of our hobby. Kudos to Mr. Wilson once again.

Peter

Thanks for a great update and looking forward to Mr. Wilson's one !

In case you haven't seen it yet, I just wanted to point out the following link from advanced aquarist that makes for great reading and seems very relevant to your best practice approach :

http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2011/2/book
Advances in Coral Husbandry in Public Aquariums edited by Rob Leewis and Max Janse is very different compared to the "normal" reefkeeping books you might have on your shelves. According to their website:

"This book contains the peer-reviewed contributions of that symposium, thus giving a comprehensive overview of recent results and experiences with coral husbandry in public aquaria."

Keep up the great work !
Sylvain
