Coral Wars!!!!

Frogspawn vs. aiptasia = aiptasia looks pretty bad on the side closest to the frogspawn.

Gorgeous coral, this just increases the appeal. :D

Acan Micromossa vs. Scolymia= Scolymia
caulestra vs. Favia= Favia
RBTA vs. Green star polyps=GSP
Torch vs. Fox= Torch

GSP vs Palythoa: GSP wins
Hydnophora vs GSP : GSP wins
GSP vs Kalk paste: I WIN!!
Hydnophora vs Echninophyllia: Echino wins
Mushrooms vs Echinophyllia : Mushrooms wins
Tri Color Valida vs Cerealis : TCV wins

psammacora vs. pink paly --> not sure but the psamma is just growing over the palys. no apparent stinging. not sure who im rooting for.

How do you apply the Kalk paste?

im guessing the same way you would for aptasia only maybe a bit thicker. i mixed up some in a small bowl and used a syringe to apply it. for the GSP you wouldnt need a needle tho. just turn off all the power heads and pumps, spread it over whatever you want to kill and let it sit for a bit. i siphon out the extra before i turn the pumps back on to avoid a snow storm/possible pH spike.

Zedar, the description above pretty much covers it (no pun intended). I do very little at a time to avoid the pH and/or storm. Generally, I'll put maybe a 1/2 Tsp of powder into a small container, then use one of the old measuring syringes from one of my old test kits and add a small amount of water to the powder, and mix it up. I mix it as thick as I can, while keeping it wet enough to still be picked up into the syringe. I would say it's usually about the thickness of peanut butter. Then I turn off all water flow and manually apply the paste to the GSP. It looks like white snail poop all over the place, so I will then carefully and slowly rub it into the GSP, creating a mat of white paste. I wait at least 10 minutes with no flow, then turn on flow again, one powerhead at a time. Some of the kalk will always be washed away, and I just watch the corals to see where some lands. I don't bother syphoning off the paste again, though that doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. I prefer to keep the kalk in a thick layer, and it tends to solidify and become a permanent addition to the live rock.

green star polyp + pumping xenia --> green star polyp
frog spawn + candy cane --> frog spawn
frog spawn + pumping xenia --> frog spawn

Sorry if its been asked and answered already, but how do some of the reefers out here do a mixed reef where you can barely see the rockwork. There were a few pictures of tanks where I would consider it coralscape, having pretty much every inch of the tank full of corals and everything looks happy?
