coralife ozone reactor

directions say to put the airstone on the long rigid tube but the 2 items have the same diameter...how do u get it on the tube. The air stone does however fit the rubber tube, but the directions show that hose on the outside of the unit. What now?

Jason, maybe i should have bought the MTC instead!!

forgot to ask, how would i know if i have too much water pressure thru it. Directions say up to 100gal/hr, but w/o a gauge its guessing for the most part.

I hooked up a maxi400 to it with appx 1.5ft of hose, so my guess i am at appx 90gal/hr. Is the Ozone reactor supposed fill up with water or just trickle down the media?

Also, you mentioned to hook the airstone to the short rigid tube which puts it near the top, is this correct, cause the pic shows it near the bottom. I am guessing it doesnt really matter since the chamber i imagine fills up with the Ozone, but thought i would double ck with you.

thanks again,

Hi Ben,

It should fill up with water and then return out of the upper port on the top that is off centered. No problem on where the air stone is, doesn't matter at what height that is.

You can measure your outflow by filling a gallon jug and timing to see how long it takes. HTH

Thanks,
Jeremy

good idea about filling the 1gal jug.

I have to double ck the intake hose on the top to see which one i have it connected too. I am thinking it is hooked to the offset and not to the center. I will ck it and let you know.

Thanks

Weired, i posted an answer to the hook up but the post isnt here:confused: Anyhow, i have the offset as the inlet per the picture in the instructions, but you say that should be the return. Just double checking with you if i should switch it ?

thanks

Hi Ben,

The inlet should be on the offset port, not the middle port. The middle port should be pumping water out of the ozone reactor.

ok, just wanted to verify the email u sent me, cause u had it the opposite. I feel better now. thank you!!

Do you run Ozone? or have hooked this unit up before? reason i ask, i notice the water level is only on the bottom 1/4th. I would have thought the whole cylinder would fill with water. The water goes in then diffuses and trinkles down the media and returns out the center pipe. In this fashion, it seems to be a mixture of ozone reactor and nitrate reactor. Do u recall on the ones you did if the chamber filled with water?

Ben,

I think I have gotten myself confused on this. I have ran the unit before, and had it hooked up like I mentioned above in the last message. It should actually be the opposite (I had it hooked up wrong on my own reactor). The inlet should be the port that is off set, then the outlet would be the middle. I hope this clears it up.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Yes, i have it hooked up right now!! But, do you remember if your chamber ever filled with water, cause the water level is pretty low, lower 1/4th. Is this normal?

If the water is going into the reactor via the middle port that has the long tube that goes all the way down to the bottom, then it would have to fill the entire reaction chamber to exit via the offset port with no extension tube.

Ok, maybe I was wrong and right all at the same time.....nonetheless, this will be my "FINAL ANSWER" ;)

Inlet into the middle port, and outlet from the offset port. Im sorry, I keep telling you to do it a different way here!!! lol

I decided to leave it hooked up the way we 1st discussed (per instructions) with the inlet being the offset and instead of a valve on the air outlet vent i put a wood airstone and now the water level is high. For a less than $30 item do u think they could make it more difficult!

I agree, very unclear instructions and hard to figure out with the items supplied. Unfortunately the next best thing that does the same thing costs well over $100 from MTC.

Hi Ben,
I came across this thread because I also had difficulties setting up this 'cheap' Coralife Ozone Reactor.
You have mentioned that you use a wood airstone on the air outlet vent. I could not figure out what Coralife meant by self-leveling. Do you place the wood airstone in your sump ?

I connected my also to an airstone and air (bubbles) is coming out of it. I am wondering if that is bad (excessive ozone entering into the sump).
