I bought a corcea the other day and put it in my sand bed. It keep trying to propel its shelf but only ended up on its side. I ended up moving it up higher in the tank onto some rocks. Any idea why it was tyring to propell itself? It had only been in the tank for about 15 minutes.

Yes, I just got one mine is doing the same things knocking sand all over the place. I have 2x250 HQi so I dont want to move it yet? This claim should be place on a rock or should it be wedge into rock work. My 1st claim.

dont wedge it into the rocks, it need to be able to open freely, just place a small rock under it for it to attach to

They are rock boring. So if you put them on a rock they attach real quick so pick the rock well. Make sure it's not so large as to cause major redecoration if you need to move them. They'll attach and start digging in w/in hours it seems. A crocea will love all the light you can give it. It would be better to put it high and if you really feel the need, use the screen technique to filter it out while removing a layer every day or two.

mine is happy on the rock i put it on. So far it is doing great. One more question though. I try to squirt some DTs phyto near it but any slight movement it closes and wont full open for a while. How should I go about feeding it?

with the right lighting it shouldn't need to be feed at all. all clams will take up some nutrients from the water but they feed slowly all day long. so trying to squirt food at it or in it is a waste of time, and will do more harm then good. if you must add extra food just for the clam, just add a small amount to the tank and if the clam wants it it will take it up when it wants it.
