Cosmo's 75G Build Thread

NanChil, give me 10 minutes and I'll have a FTS

I think the main problem was that the first "fill" of the tank was not RO/DI water since I didn't have it ready yet. I think the algae is under control, and is getting better as I do each WC with RO/DI.

I have a silly number of copepods in my tank. They are all over the rocks and the glass. Might allow me to get the Green Mandarin Dragonet I always wanted :)

After 8 months the tanks looks really nice. I'm still in the process of getting all the equipment for my 75g. I get a few pieces every pay check, my checklist is almost complete but I still need another month or so.

What was the biggest problem you had setting up your 75g?

1. I did not use ro/di water for the cycle and had crazy algae issues to deal with.

2. getting Cheato in my sump has been great, params are perfect, and i still have to rip some out every month or so.

3. I use phosguard and chemi pure elite.

Kwik, take your time, get everything you need, and go for it.

What are you still getting?

I've upgraded my list by replacing my two 6045's with 2 Vortech MP40w's; love 'em.

By buying the equipment a little at a time gives me time to read as much as possible, also it does not hit the wallet as hard. I still need to get a protein skimmer (Octopus), RO/DI Filter, and lights (Coralife 4 x 65watt =260w) or Nova Extreme T-5 (8 x 54watt = 432w). I need another 6 weeks, three checks . I have everything else. I decided early on not to setup until I had everything.

Threads like this really helps me a lot. Especially problems people have encountered or errors they've made. I'm really concerned about the algae issue.

Thanks for the tip on Cheato, I'm differently putting some in my sump/refug.

Kwik
