could someone ID my clowns for me

hi need ID on these clowns i know they were captured and not tank bred.

There a cracking pair, full of personality. I just want to make sure once my tank is mature enough to get them a nem that i get them one they would associate with in the wild.

Ive, heard that LTA's and sometimes RBTA's are your best bet. Some have had luck with BTA's but then again some haven't. Ocellaris clown fish tend to be picky when choosing a host nem.

Unfortunately their natural hosts are either very hard to keep or almost never imported. BTA's are probably your best bet. They're easy to keep and given enough time I'm sure your Ocellaris will use it as a host.

I would attempt a BTA. Naturally they host magnificents, gigantea, haddoni and merten's. Which Elegance was correct in saying that they hard to keep species.

There are always the coral surrogates too My clowns love green star polyps and Euphyilla.

IIRC, S. haddoni is naturally hosted by A. polymnus and A. clarkii clowns, but not Ocellaris or Percula.

Also, do you know where they were collected? I may be the only one here, but I'm not 100% convinced they're ocellaris. I keep coming up with 10 dorsal spines, and if I'm not mistaken both percula and ocellaris can have 10.

when i bought them i asked they guy who owns the shop. I was a little concerned about buying captured ones, he told me that all his fish were imported captured. I didnt ask where from and there was no were in the area where i could buy tank breed fish. Remember these were my first fish and i was very poorly educated, since then ive found a better shop and educated my self more. I also realize that i cant really have a good marine tank without some captured fish. I do my bit now by fragging all my corals and selling them back to the new shop i found, Its helps fund the hobby and every coral he sells of mine is one less from a reef.

IMO there's nothing wrong with buying wild caught fish if one is responsible about stocking their tank. I do feel that captive bred alternatives are a better choice when available, but sometimes you just "have to have it" and you don't have much of a choice.

They are most likely Ocellaris, but I remember seeing some Percula's a while back that had been caught in, IIRC, Vanuatu, that looked a lot like yours.

In any case, they look like they're well taken care of
