Could this work as a stand?

Haha. Yeah, I thought about a reboot of my old tank, and I did make an effort to go down that route (but with starphire glass) with getting quotes, etc., but I just couldn't gain any traction. I went crazy trying to plan everything and getting all the details right that I had decision paralysis.

So I'm just gonna start this up quick and easy, and it's basically for my son because he's been asking me about Nemo fish for like the past 6 months and I haven't delivered yet. Basically I gave up. LOL.

That's easy.. tell him that Nemo is going to be sad without Dory.. and that he needs to tell mommy.

LOL. Honestly, I don't want a tank big enough for Dory. Bigger tank, more buckets for water changes.

Already planning a bigger tank, I see. :)

Hey! Yeah, probably not doing Waterbox. Just going to set-up a 20g AIO for my son... for now.

Nice. I've been thinking about getting a 20g "œfor my son" as well. 😂

You could always buy a sheet of glass thats cut to size to protect the top from water. I just bought a 3' x 5' sheet for my kitchen table so my kids dont destroy it. I got a hook up price but it was only $45

So I bought it. Opened it up and the first page of the instructions say not to put a TV that exceeds 100lb capacity on top. ugh. Hoping that's just a really conservative number that the lawyers wrote up for liability reasons.

Because aside from that, it is SOLID and very sturdy. More sturdy than any particle board type aquarium stand I've owned in the past. It's pretty heavy too so those legs must be pretty sturdy as well. It basically came fully constructed and all I had to do was screw in the legs which are 2 pieces that run the length of the bottom. Photo attached.

It'll probably be very uncomfortable, but maybe I'll sleep on it tonight to see if it can support the weight. LOL.

Box makes a nice fort/house though for the kiddos.

Looks nice I am sure it will not have any issues..... im sure they just rate it super low for liability reasons like you say

Just as an update, so far the West Elm "stand" has been working out great! It's a quality piece of furniture. Been able to store a lot of supplies in there as well, which is great.

And my tank is cycled now. Yay!
