Here are the pictures i promised of the equipment additions. First is a wide view of the electrical and Reefkeeper2, and ATO.

Here is a little closer view.

Next is the calcium reactor that is now up and running under the stand. A couple of the pics are angled because i opted not to try and stick my head in the stand.

Next is the top-off that i ended up running into the frag tank overflow due to my RODI tank being higher than my sump causing a slow siphon.

Next is a full tank shot with the happy new residents.

And last but not least a skimmate pic.

If i get time i will get the 6045s in the frag tank. I had toyed with the idea of using my Wavy Sea but i think i will sell it.

time for a carbon filter lid for the collection bucket! Looks like the skimmer is doing well, especially considering there's not much in the tank yet. :thumbsup:

Yeah i am going to come up with something better soon i just wanted to get the little tank down. Now i can focus on the details. Today is mix salt and water change tomorrow. Something funny just popped into my head, i read someplace that a guy wanted tohave enough money to have a Tunze to mix SW with. I actually have an extra one to do that with LOL.

A quick note, i am starting to see the good purple and pink algae growing!!!!!! Imagine that, the calcium reactor was just fired up 2 days ago!!! Now the scraping begins. All four sides, unless i decide to give up on the see-thru back.

Keith this tank was bought the week before last Thanksgiving, as was my 75 four yrs before that. So i have been working on this since then and building stuff for it for a year before that. Thats why i made my reactor so big cause i knew this was coming LOL.

Ok here is a little progress report. Here is the refugium at the beginning with the butchered up AGA light.

And here is the current pic of the refugium with two 100W corkscrew bulbs. The growth and color change was dramatic.

Here is the lonely softy that got transplanted to the new tank.

Also here are a couple of new fish added to the system.

As far as equipment goes the only change was a DIY waste collector.

I started out running filter socks on my drains and skimmer output, and have since removed the sock from the skimmer. The socks on the drain are swapped for clean almost daily unless i do some scrubbing and stir up a bunch of detritus.

Cove Beach- What kind of specs are on those 100w bulbs your using? I haven`t had that much growth(or really any) in 6 months with my setup.

For those that were at the last meeting, you may remember a discussion about external skimmers and overflowing condition. I had told of how i ended up with 50 gals of water on my floor due to a waste bucket that i was using and that i had built a new waste collector to solve the water on the floor problem. Well yesterday it got a test. My power and most of Lorain was out for more than an hour. When the power did come back on, and the system came online, my skimmer did what i expected and started to overflow. My new design waste collector worked just as i had hoped. Since it is completely within the sump(cantilevered over the side)and with an emergency spillway to return the water from the overflowing skimmer to the sump. No water was lost, and the water that was retained in the waste collector was only replaced by a small amount of RODI by the top off. After dialing it back and resetting it the skimmer sucked the crud it dumped out back up in about an hour. The brown foam production was amazing.

Will you have to reset your skimmer everytime power goes out? What changes with the off and on power that causes this over flow. I've never experienced a over flow from power outage just from using plumbers putty to glue corals in place
