Different section of SJ lost power today, words are that we're not going to see power for a VERY LONG TIME. Regardless of how long is a very long time is going to be, I have no circulation in my tank what so ever. No AC no TV nothing. Thank god I have a power converter in my car and I'm capable of tethering my cell phone to my laptop. I think I'm the only one around here who's got internet. I'm sitting in my freakin car with my AC on and I can see my neighbors @ the end of the street lounging around. It's going to be along nite. I may have to go get a hotel for the night. :(

 that's suck man... Do you know what happen? You should run to Costco and buy a power generator man. I'm thinking about getting one. If you need the battery operate air pump, LMK.. You are going to lose everything if you don't do something about it quickly.

if you are still up, call me..

yikes that sucks. I know there's going to be a small poweroutage here in a week, but atleast I have time to prepare for that. Saw on the news about how some may be without power for 36 hours! Time to get the PG&E number and make your claim if you lose anything in your tank, take pictures as evidence now if you can!

You can always file a claim, whether or not it's worth it to you is another matter. The key is to show that PG&E was some how negligent for what happened (although sometime you'll get lucky and they'll get flooded with claims and just start rubber stamping most).

I dunno which area he's part of, but saw on the news a house fire caused the power outage of 44,000 people in and around Fremont area. Might be hard to get PG&E to pay, but like I said it only takes a bit of your time, start photographing now as evidence that you have the stuff you said got lost.

If it were an "act of god", which is nearly everything, they won't pay. I fought tooth and nail to get paid, to no avail. Not a tank related item.

I can hear their resposne "With all that life in there, why don't you have a back up generator?"

Gresham: Should have told them you were an Atheist hence there can be no Acts of God :)

Nah, I told em where they could stuff it. I could get my money, if I cold prove it was their fault, ie. renting logging equipment to prove excessive brown outs that ruined a $2,500 DJ mixer.

I've lost a psuedo-chromis and a Clown (I think, darn it I can't find her)...I couldn't react to the problem for a while.

I'm running a Generator that I picked up at homedepot and I've got plenty of flow and the skimmer going. I've also got the Fridge on as well. I let the neighbours off last night for 5 hours... they have single pane glass and the thing is LOUD at night.

Is anything going to suffer from a lack of Light... (will it recover) It's been 40+ hours now with no light. I live on the corner of two streets and the other side of both streets have all been running their air conditioning full bore the whole time. Now I'm stuck at home so I can keep the generator fueled up so this is costing me PTO now.

Thanks for letting me share :)

Did you know that the power circuit at Eastridge Mall blew up yesterday?? I think this is part the of problem causing your poweroutage.

How are your stuffs now?

We sincerely hope that you guys are doing better down there. We just ordered a D-8 Deep Cell battery from a local RV store. It is supposed to be in tomorrow. Right now we have power again, and the marine batteries and DC inverters carried us through last night, but it was too close for our tastes when the power finally came back on (ran the sequence return pump and our refrigerator off of them). The battery is over 20" long.. it is flippin huge, and a monster for power. That might be preferred to running the generator at night, since the inverter is pretty much silent, except for a humming from it's internal cooling fan. Total bill from the store last night for the batteris, 750 W inverters and some camping lights was $450 (going to feel that credit card bill next momnth *sigh*). But it got us through the night and seems that we had minimal causualties. HTH.. let us know if we can do anything to help

So finally the guys came down our street to fix the breakers... one wonders why the guy "assessing the scope of the outage" couldn't fix a few the day before. 48 hours had just clicked on by when he showed. It took all of 15 minutes to fix...less if he hadn't been sweating to death and had to mop himself down and take a few breaths. The funny thing was I'd seen my neighbours breaker across the street pop about 10 minutes before they showed up actually heard it go...so I pointed him across the street and they fixed theirs after a 30 minute black out....

I bet the neighbor's glad he let my kids use his pool now. Neighbor cooperation rules.

So I just lost the dottyback. All the others fish showed up including the chromis that I saw practically upside down trying to breath. Pocillopora Damicornis looks like I'll have to frag it up... my softball sized colony has a lot of white now. Had to prune back a bunch of uninteresting acropora (stag) but that things a weed anyway.

So only 430 buck out of pocket on a generator and about 40 bucks of fuel to keep it running :) And a day of from work to refuel the generator and stop it getting stolen. God I'm relieved it's over... for now. And I definitely feel a cool breeze blowing outside now.

Anyone know if Daly City will be hit with a black/brown/purple outage?

I am not in the country and if there is an outage...theres going to be a huge flooding in my house.

Unless you are on the same circuit as a fire/police/hospital station then you are subject to rolling blackouts if too many *GRUMBLE GRUMBLE* people have A/C blaring.

But other than that, you really can't tell unless PG&E sends you a letter.

This morning is the most devasting day of my reefing career. At a quick glance ALL and I mean ALL fishes except the damsel has died.

Purple Tang, yellow tang, diamon goby, ALL shrimps 5 or 6 other fishes that I can't recall the name of.

All of my Xenia has wilched, I can't tell if the SPS are goner yet but my acro crab is now hanging on the side of it's SPS home. We were out of power since 3pm (after getting power for 10 hours) until this morning.

To make things worst, my return pump is stuck. The return is now the return line from the chiller powered by a mag 5, due to the restricted flow I tossed in a Maxijet 1200 for adding flow. I've done everything I could to avoid any casualty for the summer but did not prepare myself for a blackout. A cheap $300 power generator would have saved me hundreds, possibly thousands in live stock if my SPS doesn't make it.

Everything made it the night before, I didn't think we would get hit again so I didn't go buy a battery airator. We need to do something about PG&E.
