Sorry to hear of the losses. I think alot of us got caught "flat footed" by these outages. I know that we were caught very unprepared and only by luck was out outage only 8 or 9 hours long and our batteries held out.

I have been reading that consumer confidence in several power companies is far from good (ConEd in NY, PG&E here in Ca, etc). High rates, poor service, not exactly a great combination.

Yah but what can we do about it? PG&E pretty much monopoly the game of power and gas.

I've been completely freaked out about this heatwave, especially with the kind of heat we get in the Sac Area.

Fortunately, SMUD gets their power from a different source than PG&E: http://www.smud.com/power/index.html
