I was just randomly checking the usual sites for wrasses to see if there was anything that struck my fancy, and lo and behold Pacific Island Aquatics has not just one rare wrasse but 3 that are rarely offered in the U.S. All are well out of my price range, but they had a pr of Johnsoni Fairy Wrasses, a pr of Bell's Flasher Wrasses, and a Fairy Flasher.

I still have a single P. bellae on my list; wife would kill me if I bought a pair!

And very cool to see the P. piscilineatus! Although that is a female, no? Maybe one just beginning the transition...

Transitional male.

My bellae and johnsoni's all came from PIA over a year ago. All still doing fantastic!

pia gets terrific livestock...Kevin knows what he is doing and gets some interesting and rare items...I check them everyday!!

++ I don't have deep pockets, but I like kewl fish, and not only does he have them, but he treats me like I'm buying a $3000 fish when asking him advice about something that costs very little.

Kevin at PIA is a great guy. I just got a pretty nice fish from him and its in great shape. It was a 1" Tang in about 4 gallons of water lol.

Oh man, Kevin just put the bell and Johnson's pair on sale. Someone buy them quick before I do. My wife will be very appreciative!

Bought from Kevin @ PIA a few times and always been pleased with the transactions. Great communication, packing, and most importantly fish!

I am holding out for a pair of Paracheilinus Attenuatus

I hope none show up until after March when I move into the new house. :)

I just bought the Johnsoni pair! Wayne, tell your wife, she's welcome!:D

I'll have them in QT in my office for a while so I should be able to slip them into the DT unnoticed.....

And Kevin is awesome. He's a fellow Southeastern Massachusetts Portuguese boy!

Why did you have to post that lol. Bells are on my list.
Doooo iiiiiit. :D

You might be waiting much longer than that, unfortunately. The supply there has always been extremely infrequent and sporadic, and it seems to have gone dry again.
Many of us had been waiting 2+ years this last go-around.

I just bought the Johnsoni pair!
LOL
Congrats! They're still one of my favorite, and best amongst the best 'displayers' in my tank.

Great to know Hunter. Right now, my Earlei is the boss and is in full display every evening with the sub-mail Pylie displaying in the background. I only have one female wrasse -- a Paracheilinus octotaenia. And she gets alot of attention from the male Eightline and the Earlei. I hope the Johnsoni female does not get harrassed by all these males.

Awesome! Great pick up and yes, my wife said thank you although you could have bought both pairs though ;)

You're on your own with the Bells pair Wayne. I'm not going to push my luck! My wife wants more color and different shapes than all of the fairy wrasses we have not. I've got a juvi blue line, a multi-bar and a copperband in QT now.

My earlie is also the boss and leaves my johnsoni alone. I had a pair by the male somehow found an exit and jumped (yes I have a brs mesh top and yes I changed the design a bit after). Anyways, the female is transitioning to a male and gettin the nice crescent tail. My male earlie goes full display as the light are dimming and with goes for the female/sublime earlie or one of the flame wrasses if they are unlucky enough. Luckily it is just some chasing and not full on harassment and death I got some from other fairies that are now living a wonderful life at my local lfs in a 1600g display.

I'm also on the hunt for a single, for the same reason haha

Love the Johnson's. Lost the pair I had in two separate, dumb incidents. The male would flash the female every evening and his dorsal would get bright red. Good luck with them!
