Crosshatch Trigger Owners

Fahad those crosshatch triggers never came from me please get your facts straight before dropping my name like that. All my fish are QT'd for two weeks and treated in formalin 3,Prazilpro, Cupramine, and furazone. They are eating before they get sold. If the fish does not eat within the two week QT It goes back to the ocean.I've worked really hard to build my reputation and take pride when I hear people say nothing but good things about my company I
don't need this kind of false facts to bring my reputation down. I'm sure you didn't mean it but please be aware of how damaging false statements can be.aloha Les

I didn't mean it that way les and it wasn't in my intentions to bring your name down or anything either. I was simply saying that fish that go from the ocean directly to the tank without getting them to eat first properly will have a harder time after they get shipped. It had nothing to do with the quality of fish that you ship.

When I heard diver from hawaii, your the first name that pops to mind because I don't know any other divers that ship fish in hawaii. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Les,

I think it was made more then clear they did not come from you. Viper actually said what a great guy and great fish you have so I don't think he meant anything by his comment. That being said.....I would be more than willing to try a female from you now that my female died in QT. I was thinking that I would get the male thru the rest of the QT process and get him to the main tank then maybe look for a real small female to put in QT. I will be reducing the size of my QT after the male is done. I am going from a 125 QT to a 30 gallon long. So I really can't QT large fish any longer.

It's Just when I see that someone is having a hard time with fish eating, then I see the words the fish may have flukes, then I see my company name pop up....It got me off my chair! LOL! I felt that It gave off the impression that the fish came from me and actually will deter people from giving my livestock a try...I apologize Fahad for jumping the gun.Thats how much pride I take in my reputation.Sometimes I'd like to just push the fish out quickly when my system starts to get crowded with fish but I hold back even when I get people wanting to buy the fish. If the fish hasnt been in QT for a minimum of two weeks and not eating the fish does not get sold...period! I spend a lot of time and money treating the fish and feeding the fish two-three times a day with atleast 5 different types of food mixed with vitachem As if I was going to keep them for myself. When I read the terrible news of your fish dying it bothered me. The male shouldn't have killed the female like that unless the male was a submale and the two xhatches were competing to be the dominant one.Did the female have a bloated belly or redness around the bottom side or anal area. Could have been decompression issues or an infection from the fishes bladder being poked (if it was needled). That supplier you got your fish from is a reputable company and the owner is a good guy. It just could have been a death from the fishes fighting. Right now this time a year it will be pretty hard to find a small female. During the summer is when Crosshatch Triggers are captured at a smaller size. Right now the females are 6"-7". I'm glad you got the male to eat. Usually they take about a week after capture to start taking foods. I usually tease the fish for a few days by putting live shrimp in a plastic container with holes (so it sinks)The fish can see the live shrimp swimming around in the bottle but can't get to it. When I see the Crosshatch pushing the bottle around with it's head I throw in a few pcs. of shrimp or squid and it works all the time.....LOL! ....Aloha Les

FWIW Prazi underestimated and misunderstood. I Prazi'd 2 Potter's Angels and the next day one of them had a bleeding wound in its side. I'm sure the Prazi knocked off a large group of flukes and it bled out. It was dead a few days later. When I use Prazi again I'll be sure to do a few FW dips first to knock down the flukes. Then use Prazi to eradicate the remainders.

Sorry to hear of your losses. I've wanted a Crosshatch Pair for a while now.

I think you are correct Nex....Could have been a combo of the prazi removing flukes and the stress of the male tormenting her. So far the male is doing good. Still eating and is in full strengh Cuprmaine for another 2 weeks. I did notice some white spots on the top of his head. Not sure if they are ich spots because they are rather large. Gonna give him 2 more weeks then set him free in the main tank.

The question is should I get another female or just let him be alone??? If I get another female she will be in a 30 gallon long QT for a couple months...

My pair came from Les and they came in great and are still doing great. I've never seen any fighting between the male and female. In fact the female will come take bites of food from the males mouth and he doesn't show any aggression even then. Never had any issues with any fish from Les. I did get a few things years ago from the supplier RBU1 got the triggers from. In fact there is a pic of my tang (the weird looking one) on his website.

RBU1: If you are going to a smaller QT think about getting a larger female from Les now and put a divider between the two until you are sure they get along.
