Crosshatch Trigger Owners

A few Reccomendations from me. Lights off always. What temp are you running at? I would aim for around 73F-75F. If not there, gradually bring it down. Try live brine shrimp and the QT may be too small for these fish. They need some serious smimming room and being confined may be freaking them out. Also fresh clams on the half shell is always a good thing. T

I got a large naso from Les too if that is who you got your triggers from. It took that guy 2 weeks to start eating. He was fat when he came in and by the time he started eating, he was nearly bones but now he is fattening up again. They come straight from the ocean without anytime in captivity to learn to take prep foods. He took a couple of nibbles of mysis on day 12 and everyday after that, he started eating more and more. It just takes time I guess since they have no previous history with people and being in captivity. Just have to be patient and provide them with food throughout the day. Eventually when they get hungry enough, they should start eating.

Good luck with those guys. They look amazing!

Yea give them some time. If they are still fat, they are fine. hopefully if one starts eating, it will encourage the other one to start eating as well.

Mine took about ten days to start eating. The first thing they took to was krill, once they started eating that it was on. They went crazy for all food. For what it's worth, the male was the first one to feed.

So far all the responses are making me feel better so thank you.....I am keeping my fingers crossed. I think I have some krill I will try it...

I purchased a pair that was supposedly eating everything, and turned out that only the female was actually eating. The male would pace all over the tank but not eat anything. I tried everything anyone recommended, funny thing I got so desparate I threw in some floating pellets and he actually ate them. He was a weird fish though. Later I moved on to freeze dried mysis (surface food) and then to semi-frozen SFkrill (look like salad shrimp to me) - I used a garlic product called entice, can't say it added anything to the process.

Things my Xhatch never touched - anything that sank quickly (including live feeder shrimp), live brine, frozen brine, hikari mysis (preferred full chunks of PE mysis) flake of any description.

My male passed away Xmas day, I got him July 1 and he took a month to eat. I don't know exactly why he passed away (not from wasting away), but as I said, he was "off". The female is doing fine, eats from anywhere in the water column.

Well the male finally ate......He demolished a cube of PE Mysis. Now just need the female to follow....

They are from a diver in Hawaii. Wetpetshawaii.com. His name is les. Great guy and ships amazing fish.

There is also hawaiisaltwaterfish like RBU1 mentioned in the post below me.

RBU1, did the female start eating yet?

Was able to get a male that was a little smaller then I am used to seeing ...

Not yet on the female eating....It was a week yesterday. From what I have been told they can go a good while without eating. I am happy the male is. At least a step in the right direction.

Oh, that place. I wanted to order from them too but they said a 500$ minimum order.

Well I ordered the pair of triggers and a chevron tang. With shipping came to like $430.00

The chevron tang did not make it. Not sure why...The odd thing was he was the only one out of the three that was eating.

I wish I had a local store that got all these types of fish.

So you didn't need the 500$ minimum order? I don't why they told me that. Its hard to get a hold of them. Email is the only way that worked for me last time and that took a day or 2 too. I will try them again. Thanks.
