Hi Steve...
QT/HT History......
75gal Reef with a Bio Ball Sump with ATO & Skimmer, Bare Bottom w/ 6) 4" PVC fittings for shelter& Ammonia Badge.
This tank sat completely empty and dormant for 5-7 years.
Cleaned, Filled and seeded with DT filterpad
3/8/12 First sign of ich and decided to go with the Hypo treatment..
3/13 - 3/16 Fill QT @ 1.025
3/16/12 Start to move catchable fish to QT.
3/18/12 Starting to go Hypo lees a few fish still in DT that are not wanting out...
3/22/12 Tear down DT to extract last hold-outs..All swimmers now in QT
3/24/12 QT @ 1.009 (refract.)
3/28/12 Lost 7 of 14 fish. Current swimmers; Hippo Tang (the only one showing spots), Marine Beta, 2) Blue Chromis, 2) Clowns & Firefish.
4/1/12 spots gone from Hippo, all eating well
(Please see the posts below)
5/4/12 (5 weeks @ 1.009) Spots start to show back up on Hippo.
5/11/12 Start TTM
5/11/12 Tear down QT completley, wash out sump, Tank & BioBalls with fresh water only and allowed to air dry in the sun for 2 days.
5/13/12 Refill HT to 1.010 (not knowing what the fish would be @ after TTM)
5/26/12 Complete HYPO and introduce swimmers back to the QT @ 1.015 (Temp & SG adjusted to last TTM) and Hippo still has spots..
The CURRENT occupants of QT; Hippo Tang (the only one showing spots), Marine Beta, 2) Blue Chromis, 2) Clowns & Firefish.
One of my questions... Because all of the fish are going to go thru both Prazi & Cop, why couldnt I add a few of the fish that were going to be replaced due to the loss. If we take the approach that all fish are infected upon arrival and treat accordingly and will have to go thru the same process again?
Just do them all together at the same time?
thanks again for your assistance!
Drew

The ICH Saga……
Post on 3/21/12
First, I acknowledge my own stupidity and not being a good reefer by not QUARANTINE !! Do It, forget the $$ the regret is worse!!!
I am pondering a question;
Discovered Hippo Tang scratching, noticed a spot, found a tiny spot on the Peck. fin of sailfin tang. ALL others, happy and healthy..
Took about 7 days to assemble and fill my Hospital tank, (used filterpad from DT to seed) a 75 gal reef/ bio ball wet dry, auto top off & skimmer. Bare Bottom, w/ 6) 4" PVC fittings for shelter& Ammonia Badge.
Powerhead laying on the bottom and a air pump to a wood airstone.
Took another few days to catch fish and get them into the HT before going Hypo....
In the HT prior to Salinity Drop.. 10 Days from first noticing,
Yellow Tang, Sailfin Tang, Long Nose Hawk, Flame Hawk, Jester Gobi, Lawnmower Blenny, Marine Beta, 2) Clowns, Mandarin Gobi, Fire Fish, Pajama Tetra
NOTE: There are still 4 hold outs in the DT. The Hippo Tang (who has been a worthy opponent) and the FIRST to show signs and 3) Blue Chromis . All are happy, swimming and feeding.
The Yellow Tang and the Sailfin both died on day 10 (HT at 1.025) I decided I could not wait any longer and it was time to go Hypo and acclimate the hold outs.
I started @ 1.025 and did a 5 gal water change that brought me to 1.022
Decided that was a bit drastic so started removing 1 gal at a time and let the auto top off make it up…
Note,
ALL fish seemed happy and healthy in the DT prior to capture.
It has taken me about 70 hrs to exchange 125 gal of FW to dilute the HT to the current 1.009 (measured by calibrated refractometer) and will be maintained by Auto Top off…
Last Night, the Jester Gobi Passed and this morning I found the Long Nose Hawk, Mandarin Gobi Pajama Tetra had expired.
Currently, The clowns are happy and eating well, the Flame hawk is breathing heavy and has lost color. Marine Beta looking well, but have not seen eat. Lawnmower Blenny is not looking great.
The firefish is hiding behind the powerhead, looks like he has color, but don’t want to disturb.
I have not checked any of the water chemistry yet as I just got to 1.009 and was already changing water and kept an eye on the ammonia badge.
Soliciting any thoughts or ideas as I really feel that if I had left everyone in the DT and kept fed properly, there might have been a different result…
Thanks All

I have 7 fish(Marine Beta, 2 Clowns, 2 Blue Chromis, Firefish & Hippo Tang) end of week #7 @ Hypo 1.009 in a 75 gal w/sump w/ Bio Balls, Glass bottom w/ PVC. All feeding and happy. The only fish with cysts was the HT and they all fell off after 1 week @ hypo.
Cysts showed up on HT @ week 5 and have not left. No other swimmers show signs of ich and all play nice!
I have decided the TTM is the way for me to go.
Questions?
Containers? I am thinking about 2) Plastic Totes (I have not yet purchased, so size recommendation please)
The way I am reading this, I understand that NO filtration is necessary?
What would the recommended WC schedule be in the 4 day cycle?
I figure i could make up a large batch of water so there is more consistency in the quality dispensed.
I would get 2 separate air stone & hose & use the same air pump. (airstone held inplace by PVC) Replace airstone every round?
I have 2 korolia 1400's & a korolia #1 (just came off of day tank) or are those too big for water movement?
My ambient air temp is 76-78' do i need heaters and if so, what watt?
Containers to be lit by a clamp on CCFL 5K
Am I missing anything?
Oh, PLEASE... how do you catch fish with Tupperware??? I have always netted my fish and have seen no adverse effects?
5/10/12
Mr Snorvich, Steve,
Once again, thanks for the info...
I have just been back reading and my humble gratitude for you and the others that help us keep our swimming friends (and non-swimmers) healthy..
I am starting TTM in the morning...
I have been plotting on my calender and the kids will be out of prison on week # 9 of DT Fallow. I will need to re-acclimate back up to 1.026 from 1.009. They will be in a 75g reef w/Bio Balls for QT. would you recommend a procedure?
I will be taking down the QT and completely cleaning it as it still has ich, so the swimmers will be going into a tank that has be back up for 7 days @ 1.009.
your thoughts?
thanks again...
