Hi Sahin,
Hope all is well!
You are correct. I do have some deeper coloration in my corals. When those pics were taken, everything was the same in my tank... with one small differenceI raised my lights and used a shorter photo period. I was keeping PAR at the center of my tank a little over 700. My Yellow "Tort" really liked the bright light, but other corals just didn't have the deep coloration I was after. I have since lowered the PAR at the center of my tank to ~540. I'm getting much better/deeper coloration in my SPS. I'll have some new pics in the coming months.
Warmest Regards,
James
Didnt want to post comments in your sales thread but had to say looking good James. I'd collect them all if I had any place to put them.
awesome colors, looking forward to the next tank! Out of interest though is there absolutely no rock in this system at all? is there a page with your sump setup?
the reason why i ask is my upgrade comes in 6-8 weeks, and i really dont want much rock in there and will be using dead rock ! i will have a very thin layer of sand! but the main thing is very little rock!
I will be taking things a lot slower on this new tank and a lot less fish.
2 Clowns
1 Purple tang
1 fem wrasse
5 anthias
5 chromic in a 200us gallon isn't very much?
I will use the zeo method from cycling and every day maintenance!![]()
Hi Addison: The oyster feast will help with the pale colors. Try keeping some nitrate and phosphate in your water column. I always shoot for .2 nitrate and .03 phosphate. Even higher nitrate and phosphate levels can help deepen colors. I add every other night after the lights go out. I usually cut the flow a minute after adding to the water.CUNAreefer Your corals are truly inspirational. I had a question about how you feed oysterfeast, do you turn down your flow at all when you add it to the display? I am starting to feed daily, my corals are becoming pale and it takes upward of week and a half for algae to grow on my glass. Thanks in advanced - Addison
I always recommend using less than recommended stones. One of the biggest issues with using the zeo method is the over usage of stones. Signs of over usage are tissue recession at the base, pale colors, no growth, and very thin acro tissue. I recommend starting with 20%-30% and slowing moving up. Its much safer to start with less media.also read somewhere u use less than recommended stones?
how much u using? how much water volume?
Hey Danny, Glad to hear from you. I just started a frag selling thread. Our good friend, the polar vortex, seems to be taking a break. The weather should be more accommodating to shipping a couple fragsWuz up James how's it going u still busy at work. ..got anything going up for sale soon..all my stuff I got from you are doing great very healthy. .
I would start with 600ml of the stones with a flow of 9-10 to fill up a 16 oz cup. Dose bac daily for two weeks, then 3 times a week for four weeks. You can increase the flow every two weeks until you get to 16oz of water in 7 seconds. When you change/add stones every six weeks, its always a good idea to dial back the flow to 16oz in 9 seconds, then slowly increase the flow. This conservative approach will help ensure a safe transition to a full zeo system. Faster approaches will work, but allow less room for error.ok my new tank is 200 gallons, so i think they would recommend 2litres of stones.. but i will be starting this from day 1 what you reckon?
