Cure in a bucket?

I am in such need of guidance. I would like to buy some LR online, which I believe may need to be cured once I receive it regardless as to whether it was cured before shipping. I am starting a new 29g nano cube. I would like to know if I can cure LR in a 5 gallon bucket w/ a powerhead attached or can I use a 6G cube for this process. Also, should I start my new cube w/ live sand or the LR. Please advise.

Either method of curing will work. You'll also need a heater, though, in addition to the pump. I'd likely just start the cube with dead and and live rock. I don't think real live sand is going to be cost-effective in that size tank. The bagged live sand isn't helpful, because it contains at most some bacteria.

I had a small cycle (in an established tank) when I last tried the live sand in a bag. It's mostly dead, IMO. Go with the live rock and some dead/base rock too if you want.

You can cure it either place, but you might find the 6G cube to be easier to see inside (lots of neat things on there too while its curing).

Where online are you looking to buy it?

I've never ordered LR online. Some others can chime in though. I've heard good things about TBS though.

I've never personally ordered live rock online, but I have ordered online through liveaquaria (dr fosters and smith) and they've been great.

I know that when I cycled my 29g, I cycled with live rock & live sand only. I wasn't aware until now that the live sand in a bag was really dead wet sand! LOL!

I have bough live rock on line and it was the greatest experience ever. I bought 13 lbs for my nano cured of course. It came in and i put it in my tank. It had a 2 inch clam lodged in the rock that is alive in my tank to this day. I later found a fancy baby clam. A week later i found 5 small zoos growing on my rock that some how made it through a dry shipping process, well wet news paper. They have grown very large now and are a metalic pink color. Also i have a huge red sea weed plant that started growing and i love it. Great color and it does not spread. Take it out once a month and trim a few inches off. Finally some baby feather dusters appeared this month. I have so much weird awesome stuff growing out of my rock. Every month some new plant or coral sprouts out of my rock. Just find a dealer on ebay with a great record. Everyone had these kinds of stories. Now you will hate me..... i do not remember the dealer but it was no less than six months or so ago. Just find ultra premieum fiji or premium. I payed like seventy bucks including shipping. Great deal concidering the free coral and clams and plants and macro algae and coraline algae and instant tank cycle. Also I do recomend live sand.

wholesaleaquaticsupplies has good looking ultra premium LR. $3.75/pound and shipping is $21.95 up to 50 pounds. Good deal if you ask me.
