Custom build 450G in wall display and approx 700G system

The base for the live rock, I drilled it with lots of holes so later the cable ties are easy to attach. Its way more complicated then it need to be, but it was fun to make and I got a little carried away. You can see the idea of two side and a cave in the middle with a bridge starting to come together.

I am planing on this,

Metal Halides â€"œ 2 x 400w 1 x 250w all 15k

Supplemented by 2 x 40w tubes. For moon light.

But that setup would leave the front of the tank with lower levels of light, I might add 3 more 250w 20k along the front. I cant decide just yet I am also worried about the extra heat.

Water flowing and some live rock add to the structure. This just a few bits of new rock, must of the live rock will come from my old tank.

I do but unfortunately I left them on my other laptop and I wont be home for a month or so.

The lights are up now and I moved the live rocks over from my old tank. It time to add the coral next. I am looking forward to that.

I am finally home again, so its time for some updates.

This is the lighting frame I built it about a month ago now.

If you look close you will notice its the old window frame recycled from when I built the fish room, its perfect for lights. Light weight and strong.

In the end I decided on

3 x 250w 20k MH bulbs
3 x 400w 15k MH bulbs
and 2 x moonlight tubes

The whole frame can be raised and lowered via some pulleys I found at a sailing shop.

The wheels at the bottom of the frame are to allow the frame to roll up one wall as the pulleys are offset a bit

Winters a great time for an indoor project. Just plan ahead so you don't need to be driving all over looking for parts when the roads conditions are poorest. Good luck, post some pictures when you get going.
