When I moved the fish and live rock over from the old tank a long forgotten mistakenly believed cure problem came back. ICH

Not one sign for years, perfect water conditions and it never went away.

Its only on the Tangs and it must have been the stress of moving / catching / new home that did it.

The blue tang, yellow both survived last time , 2 years ago and have it again now. Shoal, Sailfin, Scopas, etc didnt seem to be effected this time.

I'm with you,brother... I am watching my tangs carefully since the move to our big tank.

The Blue Hippo is the one that usually manifests first...fortunately, I have four very busy cleaner shrimp that set up cleaning stations for the tangs...even the Rabbitfish takes advantage of a good cleaning...

Reefy.Dave, I love the Deltec, I have had deltec's before and like the build quality, performance and the after sales service. That said I believe every skimmer in its class works just as well, no matter what the hype or latest trend might indicate.

Lightslur, I have 2 coral banded shrimp, what sort of shrimp do you have?

I have had four "cleaner shrimp" (Lysmata amboinensis) for over a year - they set up cleaning stations in rock caves - the larger fish, mostly the tangs and rabbit fish, come in and allow the shrimp to pick parasites, ich and other stuff off their skin - it's amazing to watch... a true symbiotic relationship...

I have two drums with pumps internal to feed top off water or new salt water or both.

The RODI is on a auto top-up from a float switch so I all ways have a drum full.

Some more photos of the tank.

I am thinking of adding another rock structure across the back of the tank. The first idea was to have a cave effect that sort feels never ending. It sort works but the blue glass area tends to instead reduce the perspective so you lose depth perception.

The two coral atolls have worked a treat, the territorial fish defend one atoll and leave the fish on the other alone. It has the effect of a much larger tank which reduces the stress on the fish which in turn means I can add some more.

Its coming along, water is perfect now 0 readings on No3 and Po3 still need to adjust the water flow and sort of some of that algae. I might add more rock to the sump.

Time to start shopping for some corals.

I mentioned earlier that I am experiencing same thing with my Blue tang and Foxface Rabbitfish. They are both eating well, but it's amazing how the problem can return. Fortunately no other fish are showing signs of ich (yet).

How did your problem work out? Did the Tangs fight it off?

The tangs are all back to normal, Blue tang looked the worst for 3 or 4 cycles of the ich then came good. The yellow tang came good after 2 cycles. I am glad they came thought again.

I had believed once I fish survived ich they would become immune but that's not true it appears.

Stress has a major effect on the health of fish *humans to I think

The two returns from the display are split between the upper and lower sumps with the upper sump them also feeding in two the lower one for the return to the display, so in effect I have twice the flow through the lower tank then the upper tank.

That's good news. My Blue Tang and Foxface are still eating well and acting normally - looks like they are through two cycles of the pest... No other fish affected. Fingers crossed and dosing with garlic. Smells like an Italian kitchen in my fish room!
