custom stands made... one mistake!

Okay, a buddy and I that makes custom stands got going on two stands. The larger stand was made to have a open face for easy access. So we went on by using a 4x6 as a beam with a jack setting for the front enclosure. It took two weekends especially for the staining. Anyways, everything looked great until we set the large tank on the stand. The surface area wasn't completly flat. I put a post early on the main forum if I could use a foam to compensate for the uneven surface and everyone said, NO. Does anyone believe foam can solve the problem? I just contacted my buddy about the problem, it shouldn't be that hard since all we have to do is un-bolt the surface and make a new one.

***If anyone wants custom stand made the way you want it I can always reference my buddy***

I once had that happen, so I put the tank in place on top of the cabinet and fill it, the weigh of the tank straghten out the cabinet. But that was a plexi glass tank, I don't know about glass tank though.

Your best thing to do is install some eye hook on the inside corners of the cabinet and use a cable with a wynch to pull the bottom corner and the opposite top corner to straghten out the cabinet. Make sure to loosen some screws on the cabinet before doing that and then once the tank is in place, re drill the hole for the bolts and then tighten the cabinet back up. I used nothing but 2x4 for mine and its been supper strong.

btw, make sure to wear safety glasses and such incase the cable snap, please becarefull with it if you are going to try that out. I did it for my other cabinet and know that it works
