I used to use my jig saw w/ a metal blade, but in a pinch I used a pair of dikes/angle cutters, and actually liked that better, much faster and I think less mess.
also used a dremel. Cut through like a hot knife through butter, but be careful not to leave it on one piece too long or it starts to melt. Not that i think that would cause any problems.
The pic Vorm posted, dikes, angle cutters, wire cutters, whatever people happen to decide to call them, are about the safest way, and about $4 at most HD.
