cutting off my wet dry, will it crash the tank?

I think I have overkill on filtration as it is and wanted to make sure everyone agrees.

60 gallon fish only w/ live rock --pics in my gallery plus i've put in 20 more lbs of hatian since then.

filtration is eheim 2229 wet dry, rena xp3, coralife super skimmer, 40 + lbs live rock, in tank refugium

I'm saving up for a new tv and figured the eheim could net me $268 and would be a good idea since I have adequate filtration already. just wanted to make sure it didnt crash the tank if i suddenly disconnected it one day..... everyone agree it won't?

I have an extra tank and would eventually incorporate a sump into my tank

It would depend on how many fish and how much (and what) you feed. The bio-ball filters do a really efficient job on FOWLR tanks where you're not terribly concerned by nitrates. With lots of live rock, you can still get the job done, though.

If you decide to do it, I'd recommend removing the bio-balls over a month or so (take out 1/4 per week) and monitor ammonia and nitrites as you go. Also, cut back on feeding temporarily and have a major water change ready to go in case you get a spike.
