Cutting the nose of a Stream.

Hi Roger,

I have a dual question regarding cutting the nose of a stream making it shorter.

1. Will it greatly reduce the effectiveness of a stream pump (like a 6100) in a 4 ft. tank?

2. Will it prevent the streams used in the wavebox from making waves?
Here is what I am referring to, cutting it like where the red dotted line is.

Thank you,
Sean

I don't think it will do very much, possibly make the flow a little wider. I think for the wavebox it may cause a problem because the flow won't be directed out of the wavebox, the pump doesn't stick out much and if it stuck out much less some flow may actually be redirected into the box.

From looking at the Current USA website they offer a hanging kit, I think that is your best option. If you cannot hang it from the ceiling you could fashion some pipes from thin wall conduit that you can then mount to the stand. Just use a pipe bender to get the J shape you need.

I appreciate the input Roger.
The reason I need to shorten it is that my tank builder made my external waveboxes and Stream boxes a bit too narrow.

They dont quite fit. :(

In that case why not try it, worst case you just have to remove the oring to get a bit more protrusion and with a thicker glass wall it probably will work.
