Cyanide Moorish idol?

I got a Moorish idol which I have been able to wean onto pellets after 3 days.

I did a formalin dip and put him into quarantine.

it took a lot of effort to get him to eat but he will swallow food from time to time.

However, I have noticed that after he eats, he regurgitates all the food after about 7 minutes. Breathing is not super fast.

Does he:

1) not like the food

2) feel nauseous from transport stress

3) cyanide caught, cannot digest food

4) internal parasite,

5) internal bacteria

No use speculating about a fish we cannot see as a handful of guesses aren't likely to help you. Idols tend to eat a wide variety of foods. It is a good sign that the fish is eating and it may just not be able to tolerate the consistency of the pellets. I would feed it meaty foods like chopped scallop, shrimp or clam from the grocery store and some sort of nori or plant-based foods and give it time to settle in to captive life.

I did feed mysis, fish eggs and reef frenzy. Surprisingly it rejected all those.

What got it eating was expired nls algae wafers that I had sitting around it went straight after those and would nip from time to time. I'm thinking it looked like green sponges.

I then broke those up into tiny pieces and fed them. He swallowed those. But thinking back, some of them seem rather sharp. Perhaps he injured himself trying to swallow those?

Next day he ate a few spectrum pellets although I noticed that he spat them out like 10-20 minutes latter.

He's not really skinny, but I would like him to be fatter.

Did anything come off the fish after the formalin dip? The idol eating and regurgitating food isn't a sign of cyanide collection (those fish usually eat and suddenly die for no reason)

I really don't understand this fish.

This morning before work he gobbled up a couple pellets. No spitting out (verified since no pellets on floor) when I came home. But he didn't eat at all when I fed tonight..

I see ribs in stomach but there is a little bulge in the stomach.

Nothing came off during dips.

Moorish idol are weird fish. They sometimes eat like crazy. Other times don't eat at all. No rhyme or reason.

There were brown poop and tan poop. Brown poop is pellets I'm assuming.

It ate algae wafer, so I would try nori and any other seaweed or plant based foods. Idols eat green foods and their streamers grow better when they do.
