Cycled 200 gallon tank seeks Ingens

Hello all,

I have a beautiful 200 gallon tank set up by Living Color that is fully cycled with a cleanup crew and refugium in place. Its got colorful hitches... and it just needs seahorses. Ever since I saw a pair of full grown Ingens (at Seahorse Source - thanks Dan...) I have been obsessed with putting them in my tank. Only problem is no one has any close to ready in the USA... unless you know? Anybody know where I can find Ingens for my tank?

Thanks...

I, unfortunately, don't know where you could find H.ingens for your tank. I would maybe contact Dan at Seahorse Source and see if he could help you track some down. (Although undoubtedly you've already thought of this) :)

But I would love to see pictures of your set-up!! It sounds amazing!

I actually did try to buy the pricey Ingen pair... They said they aren't really for sale. Its their breeding stock and they don't want to sell them. They expect to have some babies ready in about 2 months. Dan doesn't have any on the way right now... Its up to his Ingen's if they want to give it a go...

Anyway, I'll either buy a different species from Dan or try the Ocean rider babies... or fly to Mexico (Tank bred) and bring them in myself. Depends on what I find out for CITES issues. I just don't know how hard it is... I don't mind the adventure. If anyone has info on bringing seahorses into the USA from Mexico... I'm listening.

Eliezer is raising them and is looking for a US outlet to sell through but I don't know if he has found a place yet.
If you get in touch with Tami at the "org" or "seahorsetalk.fusedjaw", she has his e-mail address.

So far I have 2 reasonable potentials although we are still thinking April... stay tuned... Seahorse source is working on it and so is Ocean Rider. Can't wait... but I will.

April would be great:) I also noticed that Dan at Seahorse source seems to be working on a hybrid of erectus and reidi......sounds very interesting.

Hey Sophie,

Ocean Rider in Hawaii currently has Ingens available for $115 each. Do you think might try them? Only place I have seen them listed as available in many months.

She said up thread that they weren't willing to sell the ones they had. :( Ocean Rider has a bunch of species they don't have in stock on their website. I think they mainly breed H. erectus these days, and they function more as a tourism operation that breeds seahorses on the side.

Hi FishGrrl,

It seems the H. Ingens are actually in stock once again at Ocean Riders. I was thinking of possibly getting a pair of them myself:)

Thanks TJ... already ordered them :). And I saw them last month in Hawaii.... can't wait to get them. OR is breeding erectus, Ingens and abdominalis for the public....

Hi,

Do you know if they ship abdominalis to the uk????also how much they are asking for a pair????.

oh awesome! I really want to get a pair at some point but I don't have the necessary means to keep them cold enough at this point.
As a side note, I bet they got a shipment in from Eliezer. They've purchased from him in the past, I bet since they got people asking about them, they decided to make an order.

I think they raised these themselves. I've been talking to them about this batch for over 2 months now... and I saw them myself when they were too small... I don't know what they did in the past but I do believe they grew up on their facility. I should see them on thursday. Will take lots of picks... I'm sure they will be on the small side.
