I have a 30 gallon tank that has been cycling for 8 weeks now and no spikes yet my ammonia has stayed at the same level ! I started testing after week 3 or 4 , did I miss the cycle or should I wait longer I used dry rock and live sand and I ghost feed from time to time

8 weeks no spike... if u are using dry rock... u need to introduce bacteria to begin cycle ... have you considered a bacteria booster? U need to get something to break down and start cycle

Takes about 8 weeks for unconditioned rock and sand. Should be about time, if you added bacteria or have been 'ghost feeding'. Assuming you have done that, now add a few flakes of fish food daily and test for ammonia. If you detect ammonia, keep at it for 5 more days to be sure it's steady. Ammonia should disappear and so should the fish food. Then start with a few snails. If they live, move up to crabs.
