Cyphastrea vs everything

So I have this meteor shower colony that is expanding at an almost alarming rate and I'm starting to get worried about the future. My M. Undata did not fare well against it and I'm wondering how other sps will handle it namely acros. I am trying to limit it with an epoxy barrier but it hugs the contours so well it will get past eventually. Should I think about eradicating the colony

I have a few types of Cyphastrea established in a mixed reef. I find that most acros hold their ground and create their own barrier as the grow into each other. The epoxy will give the faster growing cyphastrea a head start ( something to grow on) over the competition.

Mine is losing a battle to sunset monti, but you would run into the same problem of coral expansion that way too. You could try gluing some zoas near the boarder to keep it from growing. Mine hasn't been able to overtake zoas yet.

I had a meteor shower decimate a zoa colony. It grew up the zoas stalks until it choked them out. Was kind of cool!

I have been placing yard after yard of the d-d epoxy to try and kill some sunset Monti and mystic sunset monti. Both are indestructible, one remaining viable cell, and bam, they're back

Off OP topic. I use a tooth brush dipped in kalk then scrub the area. That does a good job killing any rogue cells. I had an Idaho grape monti come back because I didn't scrub.

I'm with you on the encrusting consuming space. I removed my Meteor shower after I got tired of piling epoxy and rocks next to it monthly just to have it overtake it. I removed what I could and smothered the rest with rock so it didn't get light. Now I also have monti problems lol.

I have the same issue with my meteor shower, I'm considering just plopping down acans on top of it. The acans I have nearby totally destroy the meteor shower.

I just bought a bunch of cyphastrea from the WWC live sale. I heard Cyphastrea can even kill zoa and palys. ....by growing over them WOW! Would love to see that happen with my Brown button palys.

I heard from a reefer that certain kinds are not fast growers eg, the wwc4-color and the CB Bling bling etc. Is it true?

Also can they be killed with Kalk ?I have killed corals where needed that way before.

Anyone know if 2 kinds of cyphastrea come closer will they kill the weaker one or just stop growing?

The Meteor Shower and TCR Alien Pox cyphastreas grow at a similar rate next to each other. One doesn't overtake or kill the other, just stay the same and grow in opposite directions. Currently I'm working on 2 ReefGen pieces, the neon gold and rose gold cyphastreas on plugs together. I'll let you know in a couple months is they graft, grow out, or kill each other.

I get a bump and grow against each other in an upwards position with my encrusting Montis. Cool to watch over the past few weeks. I do have a palmers blue fighting with my massive Confusa colony and its holding its own. Only coral to not be overtaken by the envasive Monti yet.

I have the WWC 4 color , it is slow and steady grower and hardy! Most beautiful under blue lights !!

I have their CB bling bling , it is slow and not growing ...

What can I do to get the CB Bling Bling cyphastrea to grow? Pls advice someone !! THX

My current Meteor Shower has been slowed to almost no growth by moving it to the sump with minimal light .[ I have a light down there for some frags and lps.] In the past I have had MS out of control and destructive..
