d2mini's "Essential Focus" Mixed Reef Build

Wow, what a huge (yuge?) change. Best of luck with them. I've got a pair of Radions but was planning to supplement with T5. Maybe I won't need too after all.

I think having them up higher helps. I had better color when I was using the arm and my light was higher than what they are on the rails. My new tank is going to have an adjustable arm type system. Doubt I will go to 24", but it will be higher than what I can get out of the rails. AI hydra52's incase you forgot.

Yes, and this is one reason I prefer to hang my lights.
They are infinitely adjustable and it's so easy to do.
24" is very high, but the wholesaler is using those shallow grow-out tubs. Our tanks are deeper.
But if you look at the diagram that shows the cone shape light, notice how spread out the light is by the time it hits the water. I believe this is key. We just need to make some adjustments for our tanks.

You were one that never gave up on LED so I may need to defer to you with any future concerns.

I suspect you will have no issues based on what you presumably like to keep & grow (based on your previous tanks). I've had zero issues with most LPS, and the white paper actually suggests this - that LPS seem to be considerably less sensitive to spectrum.

My rack has almost 2ft of adjustment designed in. My plan is for 12 inches or so to start.

Ask away. I will answer as honest as I can. The plan is to stick with LED for the foreseeable future.

Interesting change to the system. I'm glad you're willing to try it out and see what happens. Are these G3's or G3 Pros that you are using?

Yes, my LPS always like them... it was the SPS I had a lot of problems with.

G3 Pro's.

Ahh....I just upgraded all my Gen 1's to Gen 3's, but not Gen 3 Pro's. I'd love to get your schedule and height when you have things up, running and dialed in.

My tank has similar dimensions than yours and I've been running the SPS AB+ program at 65% approx 9.5" from the water for the past 3-4 months now and I've had positive results so far with my mixed reef and the uv really makes everything pop during the last half of the light cycle. I only have 2 radion pros and I have them hung long ways

sorry to side steal Dennis

I'm running the LPS/softies mixed reef.

My setup includes 2 SPS, 2 LPS and about 5 frags/colonies of zoa's and GSP. Think im good on the LPS schedule? or should I move to a different one?

G3 Pro's.

The nicest SPS tank I've ever seen in person runs 4 AI SOL Blues on it, and he grows every kind of SPS I can think of ridiculously fast with great color. I think LEDs can be a little more difficult than metal halide or t5s, but if you know what you're doing the results can be ridiculous.
