d2mini's "Essential Focus" Mixed Reef Build

Now that you've had the tank running for a while, how do you find the noise level of the overflow? Can you compare it to the standard herbie/beanimal overflow?

After I did some experimenting and tweaking between the power of the Vectra L1 and the ball valve on my drain, I found the sweet spot that seems to be giving me maximum flow and silent operation.

I took some video but haven't had a chance to edit it yet.

9 day refugium progress....
It's gettin ugly. :D

Dennis. Even your pictures of cyano are amazing! Im going to be interested to see what decision you make over dealing with that po4. How does the Triton system suggest dealing with it? Export through macro growth? That number is pretty high. But heck, tank looks great lol.

Extremely impressive build. I'm looking forward to see what your sps growth and coloration will look like with the Radions.

Reef keeping is life!

Triton suggests their own p04 remover, or an iron based media like GFO, or alternating both.
So basically the same as usual.
This is for high levels like mine.
Once under control, the refugium should be enough.
The goal would be .03-.08, but even if I was a little over .1 that would be fine with me.

I've had a lot of questions about the Elos Quiet Drain.
So here's a video that attempts to show just how quiet this overflow is.
What's impressive is how an overflow this small can flow this much water and remain silent.
Video is recorded in 1080p via my Nikon D750.

Interesting design choice but it works, right? Obviously they knew what they wanted and it worked. Thanks - I was curious how it worked.

Side note what is the little fish dancing around the top of the tank doing all the photo bombing? Active little fella.

Edit: Probably more of a general question regarding rimless but how is your flooring and wall holding up? The surface activity got me thinking about it so wanted to ask.

That's a juvenile Wyoming White clownfish. ;)

No splashing or anything from the tank. Floors and wall are spotless.

Oh - lol. I knew you had those added from earlier in the thread but didn't connect it. Not used to seeing clowns so busy. My pair are always being lazy in the bubble tip(s).

Also thanks for information on floor. I know an odd question but one of the tanks I'm looking at is rimless.

Trying to embed the video i posted a link to yesterday... don't know why there isn't a button like there is for pics... is this working?

hmmm... all I'm seeing is a big white box.

edit: ok got it, i copied the embed code from youtube.

In tapatalk it embeds automatically with just the main url link. It's the website forum that needs the embedded code. It's been a while since they upgraded this site. The last one was a long time before the previous one too. I have a feeling it will be a really long time before another upgrade...

There is nothing they can upgrade to, at least not vertically. Not to totally threadjack but VB 3.8 is probably the favorite & most stable VB release and I'm sure they have it patched to the hilt instead of having upgraded to 4.x, and 5.x is a trainwreck. So for the future the only viable options for a board of this size is IPB or XF, and if I had to lay money down on it I would say lots of big boards that haven't converted yet are waiting for XF 2.0 to go stable, which will likely be about a year....
