d2mini's "Essential Focus" Mixed Reef Build

Now that you've had the tank up for a little while how do you compare this set up to your old life reef setup?

The LR sump was designed for that system and my current BAO sump was designed for this system.
Both work(ed) great.
I would recommend either of them.

How's your starfish doing in that brick like chaeto of yours. Mine has surfaced and sits clinged to the side, because I think he can't move anymore... what's yours doing? Seen him around?

Actually, that's a dang good question.
I totally forgot about him! :eek2:

Found him!

He stays put.
I already have one of those plus one or two other serpents in the display.

Brought mine into the dt now. I think he will be happier now :)

Edit: wow can't see anything in that pic. So dam blue. Soz.

I love brittle stars. Have you guys ever just held a piece of shrimp at the surface and watched them come out and find it? It's amazing. It was something I did with my nanos all of the time. No eyes, no brains, no advanced nervous system... They are about as primitive as anything and yet they will find that piece of shrimp that is barely touching the surface like a champ. Might not work as well in a larger tank though.

When I feed the tank they all come running out for food, grab something off the sand bed and go back into hiding. Pretty cool. Occasionally they will climb the glass and extend their arms out upside down along the water surface.

Hey Dennis, I'm thinking about redoing my sump. Anything that you would change on yours?

Nope.
Except if you are planning on running Triton, they are now recommending you dose directly into the refugium if you are dosing the new Core7 Reef Elements vs the original Base Elements.

And note that after I originally got the sump, I went back and had BAO fab me a simple cover for the refugium section.
Cuts down on noise and splashing/evap.

Thanks. Currently dosing regular base elements but when I do switch to Core7 I'll change over the dosing lines.

I'll give BAO a note and see about a new sump.

Here's a few fish I put in the tank awhile ago but never got around to posting pics. :)
They are from diver's den.
They've done great so far. My only concern is that the smallest of the Anthias, while she hung around in the group the first few days, has since been off on her own, hiding most of the time.
It's been like that for weeks. I can go days without seeing her. She seems to favor the back right corner and sometimes i find her in one of the holes of the rock.
The male is a freakin pig. All he does is swim up front looking for food. lol
The tang seems to be content picking algae off rocks or the algae clip. Doesn't seem at all interested in Reef Frenzy or mysis.
