d2mini's "Essential Focus" Mixed Reef Build

What's the thing you have your air stone going into?

I also paint the back and bottom of the QT black. Some also paint the sides black. Not sure it really matters.

Hey there Dennis, I just wanted to say that I walked away from the hobby for about 6 months and need to "reset" I am coming back and using your old cube build as inspiration. I have always dreamed of owning a tank like that one you did and that is my goal with my new build. Decided to go with a 93g frameless cube. Going to take my time and make everything as possibly high end and sleek as I can afford with my budget.

I LOVE the new tank and as always your attention to detail is supreme. I will be trying to follow in those very large footsteps during my build.

Can you then sterilize the sponge and re-fit between fish additions, or between each TTM change?
I figured I'd wash it in bleach and then air dry, like filter socks.
But for 6 bucks I can just buy a new one, too.
I got it for the extra bio-filtration. I'll probably pick up a second with my next brs order so I can toss it in my sump and get it ready for the next batch of fish.

Welcome back!
I actually enjoyed the few months off I had. We need that restart sometimes. :)

Two questions for you about Triton. What's the proportion requirement of the fuge section to DT? I'm considering using a modified Triton in addition to the Zeovit I'm running so I can nail down the trace elements. I'm guessing with the ULN of Zeovit that the plants won't grow well. My chaeto already grows very very slowly. If I can't get what I need from the plants, so be it, I'll do my best and dose supplements.

My thought is to supplement trace elements as accurately as possible based on the Triton analysis. Are you dosing the base 4 or any of the elements singly?

Triton suggests at least 10% of your display volume. I think i'm around 12%... can't remember exactly.

I'm dosing the base 4, that's it right now.
So far I've only done one ICP test.

For the cheato growth, I'm 99.999999% sure it's all in the light.
I got the near same crazy growth with my 150W HPS light on my previous tank as I'm getting now with the Mars Hydro LED.
The cheato seems to love that crazy intense lighting.
Triton's base elements does include elements for the algae bed. But other than that, I always seem to have a pretty nutrient depleted tank and the stuff still grows.

My fuge section is maybe 7% of display volume. Even if I could grow more than chaeto it wouldn't be enough space to run true Triton. But I like the concept so I'm going to do as much as possible. I had a par 38 growing chaeto in my old tank and the growth was nuts. I've added two 10w 6500k LEDs to that. Maybe the Mars will make a big difference. Thanks for the insight.

New pics! :)
I'll try to get an FTS later.

Sure did! Did I not post the pics here? Darnit...
I was without ATO for only a few days.
Then moved the water changing station back in place and started making more water. :)
