Thanks for sharing your journey and experience. I don’t comment too often due to being in the ‘learning‘ stage (I will always be in it). I just want say I am so sorry. Especially about your fishies. I get attached to my little ocean lives and hate (I use, and was advised by a professor to use this word sparingly in life) to see death occur. I always read your threads and enjoy them and your tanks, plus they often prompt me to do some research and learn! Look forward to your reboot, and good luck!
 
Have to say Im really impressed with the discipline & decisiveness here. We're considering an interstate move and I'm already stressing at what to do with my tank and boom, you strip yours overnight lol. Looking forward to what comes next

Sorry about your fish I know it's a pain to start over but you are pretty good at it :-)

Have you considered using regular sand instead of crushed coral. So much gunk builds up over time in crushed coral.
