d2mini's "Essential Focus" Mixed Reef Build

LOL, those cords have been brought up several times before.
I've even said myself that someday I'll do something with them.
But the truth is, when i'm standing in front of my tank, that's the LAST thing I see.
So it's never a priority. :)

I should just start deleting them out of photos. :D

Yeah! We don't even know that you have photoshop skills until we see that!

I know I raised it way earlier in the thread. However, not because it bugged me but because I see how much attention to detail he puts into things I sort of assumed it bugged him ;)

But if truth be told this is a issue most people have with this sort of lighting. I am actually going to have a similar problem. More than likely I'll make a floating shelf and just hide the wires somewhere behind it and then run it down the side of the cabinet or bookshelf.

Let's see your cord management skills 2wheels.

Didn't mean to offend you tough guy :lolspin::love1::lolspin:

See no cords? :wave::lolspin:

btw, no need to white knight. I just made a comment about the cords, at the end of the day you still will wake up with a birthday to look forward to! No need to get hostile and chippy. I just wondered why he didn't hide cords when he went through such effort to make a very clean setup in this build and his old.

2wheelsonly -- beautiful tank! But I have to laugh -- it's funny how we each seem to focus in on different details! I look at your tank and wonder why you don't clean the coralline off the back glass, it would drive me nuts. :lolspin: In the past the power cables probably would have annoyed me too, but now I have similar that I guess I have learned to ignore. Its kind of like your old tank Dennis, which was beautiful, but the line of the coast-to-coast overflow bothered many of us -- but maybe barely registered to your eye. Just to be clear -- love both your tanks! and if I posted a photo of mine currently there are probably multiple things that would bug you.

Very nice tank, though to be fair, this response was WAY more chippy than his.

LOL! That dang overflow! Every time i posted a pics someone would ask why the tank wasn't filled up all the way.

So funny. But like this cord, you barely even saw the overflow in person.

BTW... did ANYONE notice I posted a really cute Blenny photo up there? :D

All good man, just giving you a hard time ;-)

That anthia looks like it's water surfing like a dolphin! :)

I notice you put alot of sponges in your tanks, are you just good at keeping them alive or do you often replace when they die? Most people I know that have colorful sponges like that are constantly replacing... I gave up on them myself.

The key is to enjoy them while you have them.....nothing lives forever....;)

Finally read through the whole thing, woo!

One thing I never really liked about the Triton method was the waiting game..When you send off your results your still dosing your aquarium, so when you get your results back they're for your aquarium "x" number of days ago. Also, Everytime you add more fish/Coral you would think you would need a new test, or am I thinking about this wrong?

Because of reading this thread my TBS rock will be here Friday. 😁

Glad everything turned around for you and looking forward to what comes next!

REBUILD UPDATE:

Everything looking good so far.
The only thing that is off is a p04 spike, just like I had last time I set the tank up.
P04 was off the charts, literally. The Hanna ULR Phosphorous only goes to a reading of flashing 200, so my p04 was over .6.
But a water change and some GFO and two days later i'm down to .25 and it should continue to drop.

Coral are doing well. The old stuff is recovering and the new stuff is settling in.
Getting those new frags mounted. Color looks good so far and good PE.

The only two fish I have so far are the Blenny and a small Davinci Clown.
And the toad fish in the sump. He's been eating whole thawed silversides. Haven't seen him actually do it though... he's a shy little bugger.

And reef related... i upgraded the jeep yesterday. :D

He is still upset at Mr. TBS for shipping him to Texas ;) Seriously, #FreeToadfish

Just kidding. Really neat looking fish though. I hope it does well in your sump.

Serious question, why have something in your sump you rarely see, have to feed, and adds waste products to your ecosystem?
The reason I ask is I'm wondering if I should be putting something in MY sump....
Or is it simply not a big effect on bio-load and cool to have?
