Daniel's RSM 250 SPS tank

Thank you guys for thinking about me and my tank. !!!!!

It is late (10:48 PM here in Massachusetts) and I swear I will write a full update. I have been following your postings from time to time.

In the meantime here goes some FTS pictures of about 1-2 weeks ago.

Cheers
Daniel

It lives! Nice to see you post.

:dance::dance::dance:

Yes.... I am alive and let see if I can do an update.

Just do not post until I finish all my postings..... LOTS OF PICTURES !!!

OK... VERY BRIEFLY !!

I have NOT DONE ANYTHING TO MY TANK !!! Yes literary, I have my tank achieve the equilibrium again by not doing anything....BESIDES : 25 G watre change every week (total volume tank ~ 100G), measure alk once a week (it has been at ~7.5 dkh) and cleaning the fuge of macroalgae, the crystals and some pump here and there.

I do not have any idea of Nitrates or Phosphates.... and I do not care.

I feed every other day 6 frozen cubes.

I am still adding Aquaforest NPpro for my tank volume using dosing pump and the Bacteria. Every day 4 drops of bacterias.

What I have learned from my tank crashes with this SPS tank was "that each time i tried to change something, thinking it will be for good..... I crashed the tank"

My mind in now set for NO CHANGES....NO CHANGES ..... AND .....NO CHANGES.

What ever coral (acro or something else) that have died....has NOT been replaced. What survives is what have been adapted to my tank conditions.

That is all what I have been doing during these months. "KEEPING ROUTINE AND WAITING.....AND WAITING".

The tank is recovering and all is growing. Slowly !!!! .... but growing "HURRAY".

Now pictures.

Wait till I finish ....... CHEERS !!!Daniel

Gorgeous, still one of my favorite because I love packed tanks. I could stare in there for hours making sure I didn't miss anything.

Glad to hear things going well with the NO CHANGES approach.

Just awesome and I can honestly say this is still the goal for my tank to look like in a year or so. It's fun to look at.

Thank you Mark !!!!

This is my new tank. Started in August and it isn't a reef tank.....but I can share here at least a video.

Now I will see if I can do what Mark suggested with the computer. I am in the phone right now

Congrats on Grandpa-ism! A truly great and important position in life.
And Congrats on your tank making such a fantastic recovery since earlier in the year. I believe I remember that you were traveling alot. There is nothing like the look of a mature reef.

I don't know if it is just my perception or not, but some of your corals have incredible and unique growth patterns. Absolutely captivating. Plus the colors are saturated and flawless. Not to mention the great photography skills with those reflection shots.

I will go back and read some of your posts that I missed to follow up and your last couple of months.

Great looking tank!

THANK YOU KEVLOW..... and I am still traveling a lot. Almost 3 days every week out of 5 business days.

Sunset starts :

For my records (aka memories) and to all of us to enjoy this frag. I will keep it updating.

July 2014 picture. This SSC colony grew and then RTN after a nutrient issue around January-February 2015. I was able to glue a HALF INCH frag in a plug

November 14 2015. The very small frag survived and was relocated to a rock.

December 7 2015

January 3 2016

January 30 2016

February 28 2016

June 17 2016. By accident, during my cleaning of dead corals, I broke his small tip. On this picture tissue have already grown over the tip skeleton and frag continued encrusting

July 22 2016, some small branches have started to grow (see small tips)... Hurray !!

August 4 2016. Taken a few minutes ago.

I will continue updating this growing, so we can all can enjoy how from an encrusted section branches are starting to grow (I believe they will finish in branches).

I was looking the last 2 pictures and it is noticeable the growing in the branches from July 22 till today August 4.

Guys..... PLEASE !!! keep you all your fingers crossed and send positive waves to this survivor of 2 tanks issues with nutrients.

Best
Daniel

As written and posted in the quote, looks like you all kept your finger crossed. See the frag today DECEMBER 9 2016

Hi Daniel, there's a big difference in color between the original colony and the one you have now. From a very light pink to an intense green body with true red polyps. What's the difference in your system that could explain that?
My SSC looks like your original one, but I'd like it to be more similar to the current one.

Thanks in advance and congratulations for your future grandpa'ness.

Daniel, no one would ever know that you had problems in there. It looks like a beautiful mature reef again!
And the fact that you changed nothing to see it recover shows what a paradox reef keeping can be. One little screw up and things go to hell but doing nothing but keeping things stable can bring around such a beautiful recovery.
I LOVE ssc progression shots. What an amazing come back.
These corals are so hearty and yet so fragile at the same time.
Nice to see you back, Dan. :)
