Daniel's RSM 250 SPS tank

Looks like it's about time for a trim! Looking good. What's that yellow damsel?

It's just that, a yellow Damsel that I used to help the final stages of the tank cycle. I used a dead shrimp and the Damsel at the end. It has been in the tank since ~ March 2014.

Cheers

Interesting. Also interesting that I've never seen one before. I like the color of it! How mean is it?

It was mean at the start, because she was the owner of the tank. But with time and the other fish getting their own territory she started to have a very social life. Bottom line, never ever there was a problem with this Damsel.

When it was younger, the yellow was stronger, like Yellow Tangs. When she grew, the color fade a little. The last 2 years she has that color, a little washed of what she was.

It's like us..... we can't be like teens for ever...we also fade....:lolspin:

Thank you Andrew !!!

I am not only feeding the fish. There is a huge clean-up crew. I have , at least, 5 BIG serpen starts and many small ones (new borns?) , plus all types of snails and crabs. They need to eat to .... LOL

Besides, I feed the tanks every other day in that way. I do not add anything else.

Another thing to take into account with my tank is that I do not have any mechanical filter. Like filter socks or similar. I just have the skimmer.

There has to be a lot of particles floating around, probably good food for the corals, all the sponges you see in the video and hundreds of small/medium size feather dusters that are leaving within all the rocks. They are incredible beautiful. Not due to color, as most are white, but I find them fascinating. I have like colonies growing in all places.

I love the videos! What is the red encrusting /plating coral on the back rightish side? I love the way you feed. I do it much the same way and volume. I only hope to have a tank stuffed with life like you do. Great job.

Thank you !!!!

I do not have any idea what it is. It was a small rock, like 1" in diameter. It has 3 + years in the tank. It is already over several rocks and the back of the tank.

You said right, but is left side if you are looking the tank. ......... correct ?

Daniel

Ps: I will start to post detailed pictures.

Yep. My bad. It is in the back left. I would love a couple shots of it. Does it kill acros it meets or does it go around them?

Here are some shots. I am not sure it will kill the Acro in the picture. Time will tell, but I can say that some part of the base of that acro was cover by the coral,

Enjoy the growing of this SSC on the following pictures. I will post today's picture at the end.

For my records (aka memories) and to all of us to enjoy this frag. I will keep it updating.

July 2014 picture. This SSC colony grew and then RTN after a nutrient issue around January-February 2015. I was able to glue a HALF INCH frag in a plug

November 14 2015. The very small frag survived and was relocated to a rock.

December 7 2015

January 3 2016

January 30 2016

February 28 2016

June 17 2016. By accident, during my cleaning of dead corals, I broke his small tip. On this picture tissue have already grown over the tip skeleton and frag continued encrusting

July 22 2016, some small branches have started to grow (see small tips)... Hurray !!

August 4 2016. Taken a few minutes ago.

Best

Cyphastrea. It's mean and so far has killed everything of mine it touches.

Thank you Mark for the nane !!!

I think it is a bad guy, based on the pictures I posted of the Acro base. But to continue with my policy, I will not introduce my hands into the tank to stop it. "The Survival of the Fittest.
