Thank you for the nice words.

It is a leather coral. Looks like leafs attached to a rock. I do not know the name. It is more yellowish than green.

Cheers

Looking wonderful Daniel, love the colors and your pics are great :)

That leather looks like something stuck to a rock but it ain't leaves........:twitch:

Hi all

Let see what do you think.

I came from my business trip to find that the Aussie wild SSC is losing tissue in 1 branch (STN/RTN ?).

See picture. At the center is the SSC and look to the right.

With more detail now:

I thought that probably my fuge upgrade changed something, but all the parameters are still the same ones. Only that from my last P. measurement the P. value was 0.04 and now is 0.05. So tonight I will jump a feeding.

When I opened the thread to do this posting I saw this picture taken on Nov 26 and , if you pay attention, already a tissue recession can be seen.

Suggestions please on how to proceed:

- Just wait and if by the weekend this has NOT stopped try to cut the coral (will be tuft because it is glued to the rock, and risk braking the branches that are OK) ?

- Try to cover with Superglue the affected area ? (not easy under water)

- Any other idea ?

All the other corals are OK. This is the second time that this AUSSIE SSC those this to me.

Cheers
Daniel

I would see if the death advances.
That branch was going to go for sure but maybe it will stop on the body..
I wouldn't wait too long.. Maybe see if it has advanced by morning.. If yes then putty it.

I stopped all pumps and looked it very carefully from all angles. That side was the only affected. The other side is incrusted. I decided that putty will be more diffucult than superglue, because I will need to do presure. Soooo I decided to move on with the glue ......

Prepared the fragging tool and a new superglue with a clean tip.

Cut the affected branch

Trying to do a more deep cut I broke the beside branch and glued it immediately in a tip of a rock (no real state available )

Then glued all the area:

Picture of final work and small branch tip taken 3-5 minutes after I finished. You can see polyps already out. The guy is healthy but........GRRRRRR

Now I will cross my fingers

Cheers

I am thinking that tomorrow evening I will detach the small SSC branch and will glue it over the glued section of the mother minicolony or.......just leave it there and let it be happy and see what happens ?

Daniel

Nice (messy) glue job! :)
I'd leave the frag for a few weeks and then move it back to the glue patch.
Just let everything settle..
I hope this works!

Thank you Matt for the good waves.

I will follow your suggestion. ... now relax Daniel.

Yes !!!! The glue looks messy and horrible, but if the guy is really healthy the tissue will growth over it.

BTW, lights went off at 10 PM.... so I checked polyp extencion and they are all extended like crazy, included the SSC I worked on..... GOOD !!!!!!!

The recession was slow so I'm guessing it just doesn't like that spot, maybe not enough light or flow? Always hard to tell if recession is something to worry about or just the coral favoring better conditions. I've had my slimer recede at the base when it wasn't getting enough flow. Adding extra pumps to increase flow along my back wall stopped the recession.

Thank you Mark for the tip. What scared me wasn't the recession on the base (I had many of those), it was that from Monday AM till Wednesday PM the branch tissue was gone. And when I saw it there was still lose tissue on that branch.

You are probably correct on the flow/site place and that section of the base not being happy. But the branch was happy ..... and suddenly is gone. Unfortunately these guys can't talk to tell us what the heck is affecting them ..LOL.

I hope that the glue will stop the tissue issue and he continue growing all those small branches !!!

I really appreciate you stoping on my thread and providing me suggestions based on your experience.

Thank you again !!

Daniel

Hi guys .... a little update. The SSC is doing great, no more lose of tissue after the glue limit , that I can see.

The small frag is very happy on his new place with all the polyps out.

Tha SSC has also all the polyps out and I was watching it at night and the polyp extension is amazing.

OK..... I have started my winter vacation. Till today to January I am out , we'll with just a few TC (phone/internet conferences)......HURRAY !!!!

So I need to do something and I decided to add an Algae Scrubber to the system.

More to come......stay tuned !!!!!

Tank looks great, I love how packed it is.

Which two triggers do you have in your fuge? I have a pink tail in my DT that has been a model citizen thus far, I love triggers, they are so different and interesting. Mine is absolutely scared of my camera so I can never get a proper photo worth showing, it's no longer skittish around me but I bring that camera out and it hides immediately!

Thank you !!!!

I have a Niger and Blue Line trigger fish. The blue line came very young. Let see what will happen when he mature.
