this is gonna be a slow build this time but gonna have vids to document the progress...im not a pro builder im just a regular guy learning as I go...thanks more to follow. .

Question for stand building experts..is it even possible to remove center brace for a 44inches tall stand..

Good luck with the new one cugly:thumbsup:

Good call to run it as simple as possible,i always got the best results when i kept things like that:)
Keep us posted

Look up rocket engineers stand thread. There is a lot of explaining and engineering related answers in the thread. I'd think you would need to rebuild it myself.. At least take the skin off to reinforce the frame if it's possible..

thank you I had great results running zeovit but my condition is not helping..if I keep it simple my son can do all the water change once a week and all I have to worry about is stability.

thank you I will do that I appreciate it..

Hey dude, hope you are feeling better. I also have a medical issue and at one point thought of taking the system down...

I followed the old thread and will be following this one for sure.

In terms of equipment, are you going for the same lights/skimmer etc? Or going for something different?

PS I would love to have a stand without the centre support, so although I dont know the answer to your question, I'll be following to see what the experts say. :D

thanks Sahin I appreciate your comments. .how are feeling nowadays. ..I hope everything is well..
I looked at this change on the brighter side of it rather than the negative..I haven't decided yet exactly..im thinking orphek v.2 but I want the ati hybrid also..im getting vertex alpha 200 when money permits and I might be building another sump or just build a fuge ..so far my focus is slowly get things and modify the stand..and build a acrylic basin for spill emergency. .

Ill be using this for my bare bottom has a texture thats looks like sand its an abs plastic

the tank is off the stand the modification of the stand begins. .

The texture on that ABS plastic will be covered easily by Coralline algae within 3 months. :) I have coralline algae on my bare bottomed tank covering 70% of the areas. Once coralline algae covers most of it, it looks quite nice in pink. :D

Look forward to this build.

Thanks Sahin...the only pink I like are the ones in my tank lol..
here's a sample of the aquascape not done yet but its coming along

The tank looks great could pass for brand new =).

Did you just wing it in the stand or use someone else's stand for reference? Only reason I ask is because I noticed two things that I read were major do not do's in your design.

I'm by far no expert though so I may be way off base but the way you have the angled 2x4 with only partial contact with the riser could lead to settling and shifting or breakage. Also the way you stubbed in the side risers sitting on the deck. When I built my stand I made sure all supporting beams went to the floor vs just resting on the deck like in the referenced thread.

I'm not trying to pick it apart as I'm far from an engineer I just followed this thread to get my stand without a beam in front/back.. But it's quite obvious there is more than one way to build a stand I'm just familiar with this one and learned about what's going on in that thread.

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1567110

what you have to me seems to only be a plywood skin with most of the shear weight on screws vs the floor.. I personally wasn't willing to risk 1050 lbs of water on my floor so I followed it to the letter and it's super solid =).

This stand is built like a tank now theres 2x4 frame on the bottom we beefed up how leemar made this stand..the pics I put was the progression I will post more pics later of the rest of the mods..

Won't having that sheet on the bottom create issues later with a detritus build up underneath it? Dead space & detritus may be a recipe for that black sulfer smelling crap to collect.

no it wont build up because I will silicone it to seal edges

Hey buddy, glad you managed to sort out the stand and remove the front centre support. Looks so much better. You will love the unhindered access into the sump area now.
