so it's just like the deltec and H&S pumps then... I know deltec and euro reef mod their needle wheel does DAS mod theirs?
Did anyone ever reply to the guy who asked what the flow rate should be through the EX2?

Water level in the sump do not matter with the ex skimmers. Also the only sound you can hear from the skimmer is the air being sucked in.Originally posted by db_triggerfish
i plan to order one this week also or a custom skimmer from Orca. From what i have read, is it fair to say that aquabee pump is not noisy, also that going with a RC skimmer you don't have to adjust the skimmer when my water level drops 1 or 2 inches? BIG Thanks, I don't want to order a skimmer only to buy another a month later and take a loss.
i will... anything you want a pic of? i'm running a ex-2....Originally posted by krzyphsygy

How many lpm are you guys pulling through the aquabee pumps when the valve is all the way open?
i'm running an ex-2 on a 90gal display with a system volume of 130gals. I'm keeping Zoa's and mushrooms. I only have 2 fish and couple shrimps and snails/crabs.Originally posted by meschaefer
EX-2 Owners.... what size tank are you using your skimmer on. What type of corals are you keeping and what is your bio load like?
ex-2 could handle itOriginally posted by treny

I have been using a DAS EX1 for about 5 years or so now on my 180 reef and I love it. So feel free to ask me as many questoins as you like.
My LFS sells them for a decent price. I can comment on them getting broken in transit, when DAS ships them over to the US they do a very poor job of packing them and A LOT of them get broken during international transit. My LFS has a 50% damage rate upon receipt. So if any on-line retailers are shipping them out with out first checking them for damage it may not be their fault, though they sould be checking them.
I do push Ozone through my unit as well I also push my effluent water from mmy reactor in my unit.
As far as basic maintenance I clean the air in take once a week, as well I clean the skimmer collection cup every couple of days. About once a qtr I clean the recirculating pump and needle wheel. The only modificatoin I have done is to the collectoin cup, my LFS drilled and installed a fitting so I can drain the skimmate to a seperate container. I take at least a liter of crap a week from my tank.
As far as my tank goes I have a high bio load, 20 fish that I feed about three times a day.
My opinion is that it is an amazing skimmer at a great price, I just can't justify the cost of a Deltec. I know many people that use Deltec's and I get the same performance out of my DAS.
This is my tank, if you have any questions I'll be more then happy to answer them.
