Thanks Hahn,

BUt, I feel i was plenty patient with them and in all honesty i wanted to give my money to them. That is why i waited for almost 2 months.

But, i just cant keep waiting

Hi everyone,

I am in the market for an in-sump plug and play skimmer for my 55 gal. tank and 15 gal. sump FOWLR setup. I am currently looking at the DAS BX-1 and H&S 90-F1000, H&S 90-F2000 skimmers. How do these stack up against each other and how to compare as far as performance, durability and ease of use and maintenance.

Thanks,
Gary

I would think the DAS ex-1 would be better than the H&S because it is very similiar in design, but a recirc. I would go with the das ex-1 over the bx-1 for the same reason.

No I did not realize that at all.
I thought it was just a small Texas-based chain of stores that just so happen to sell D.A.S. equipment along with all their other lines.

I ordered my EX-2 from Orca last Wednesday. After they emailed me back and said they placed my order, I asked for a tracking number. They told me they have called DAS with no luck, but would keep trying. Since I, like many others have waited so long, I was getting tired of all this. I wanted to give Orca my business since I read, on here, that they were better in the shipping department and they spent time with me back and forth about my skimmer needs. Anyway, I notice on 1 of the post there was a phone number for DAS, so I thought I would call myself. I called the number, it was answered right away, and within 2 minutes I had a tracking number saying my skimmer is due to show up today. I can't wait, it seems like this process took forever. It did!

You guys realize Petorama is DAS right? It's like their retail store I believe...

I don't think the connection is that straight forward.

DAS does not even have any other "retail" products....

What's the deal with the impellor? The shaft is built in. So if you break the shaft you have to buy another impellor assembly and not just the shaft? Do they do this for balancing purposes?

Shaft is not built in ... you can take it off.... it's ceramic i believe....

Have no clue if you can buy it seperate. There are not that easy to break... not sure why you are worried about it.

The shaft is not removable from the impellors that came with my skimmer pumps. I'm worried about it because I have broken a shaft or two over the years.

The last time we went in it was all DAS and the guy I deal with at DAS mentioned it to me. They can show off their pertstore fixtures there.

I got an email from Petorama today too...lots of Ex-1 in stock for same day shipping. Is this the same company :) I ordered one for my tank, cant wait.

I also order my skimmer a couple months ago from Petorama and it was shipped from DAS.

I'm using the EX-1 on my 37 in a custom sump, with good results. You do need to add a gate valve to it as it just isn't sensitive enough to dial in otherwise (in my opinion).
What problem where you having? You are the first person i seen say they needed a gate valve.

What is the recommended skimmer for a 92 gal mixed reef with average bio-load? Is an EX-1 pushing it? Not sure if I have space for the EX-2 or not, but I don't want to buy something and find out it is undersized.
